With their energy rejuvenated, Hallows and Spook continue moving forward. They notice, rather uncomfortably, that all bird calls have gone quiet and the trees and foliage has grown thicker. They can hardly see to the sides and can't see much of what's ahead at all. Before long they reach a quickly flowing river. There is a fallen log over which they can cross, Hallows thinks this would probably be the safer way to go, but Spooks points out a rickety old canoe tied to the bank and insists that taking the boat down the river would be faster and could get them out of the woods and to safety since the water might lead to civilization.

Which way do they choose?

Hallows convinces Spook that the canoe looks too dangerous and rickety to stay afloat in the fast current of the river and they cross the log bridge instead. When they're halfway across, Hallows notices a hole in the log. Inside is a tarantula nest which they happily raid!
Once across, Spook gets distracted by a flock of ghost moths fluttering by. With some convincing they coerce Catskitten to catch them in the butterfly net stowed in their pack.

Hallows:

Feeling pretty fresh and energetic, Hallows and Spook continue moving forward, beginning to wonder if they'll ever find a way home. As they're walking they hear a strange noise ahead. Hallows wants to check it out, but Spook doesn't think that's a good idea. "It could be something dangerous" they reason.

As they round the bend, they spot a large raccoon attacking a pair of odd-looking squirrels. Hallows, deciding to be a bit reckless and seeing an opportunity lunges forward and attacks the raccoon! The beast, being much bigger than the snap dragon, turns and claws Hallows across the face. Hallows screeches in pain and the sound spooks the raccoon who darts away into the woods.

Hallows: -6 energy

Spook, seeing their friend injured frantically searches the surrounding area for anything that can be used to heal them. With a bit of luck, some leaves and berries are found that can be made into a healing salve.

Spook: -2 energy


Hallows:
Cannot continue without a salve. Because they are together Spook can either use the salve on Hallows or save it for themselves to use later if Spook gets injured.

Neonbay and Vulkan enter the woods with Suatrone as their guide. Ahead they see three paths that lead deeper into the trees. The first is dark and foggy, they can hardly see around the first bend. The second is bright and sunny, but there are strange noises coming from the tree tops that makes them wary. The third is quiet, the trees are dead, and they can hear water running somewhere ahead.
