Personality: Uyu is a kind, curious person who is generally known for taking risks, especially when she most definitely should not. She is intelligent, she plans ahead but doesn't often look back. That being said, Uyu's past has lead her to be someone that others can rely on. She's helpful, independent, and always willing to go the extra mile for others. Could you blame her? Generally, Uyu is a good person. Ambiverted in nature, she's fine in a group or on her own, but when she does work with a group, it's always very clear that she is the one in charge of things. She is a little bossy, yes, but that is a side of her that rarely shows. Despite her amiability, Uyu is not a sentimental person. She doesn't like to dwell on things, she just keeps moving forward. Of course, that is good news for anyone studying under her, because Uyu is big on forgiving. She doesn't forget, though. Mistakes can, of course, add up in her books, and she doesn't have a problem letting others go or cutting them off.
Appearance: Uyu is a tall girl- just over six feet. She's fairly average as far as body type goes- not fat or thin or overly muscular. Her skin is a dark shade of brown, and she doesn't do much for her hair. Her coily, black mane does its own thing, and Uyu is fine with that. She only ever pulls it back when she absolutely has to. She isn't fond of wearing makeup- she wears eyeliner on special occasions and that's really it. That being said, Uyu does love fashion, and even in the middle of Africa, she tries to keep up with the latest trends to some degree. Outside of her work clothes, Uyu only really wears designer clothes she had shipped from other countries. Call it pretentious if you want, but Uyu loves it and feels comfortable and confident doing it, regardless of how expensive shipping to Africa is.
Other: She's asexual. Let's just get that out of the way now. Probably biromantic or something, but definitely asexual.
History: If there's anyone who knows a thing or two about tragic pasts, it's definitely not Uyu. She was born to a very good family, but her biological parents didn't have the time or money to raise her, so she grew up living with her aunt and only saw her parents on rare occasions- not that Uyu really minded, she understood that her parents were trying to give her the best life possible. Which only backfired a little.
Uyu's aunt had two sons that were older than Uyu, Chidiebere and Tiyamike. Chidiebere and Tiyamike weren't necessarily bad people, per se, but they were very disrespectful toward their mother, and the older Uyu got, the more that got on her nerves, especially as her aunt got older and she was unable to keep up with daily chores. While her aunt tried to get Chidiebere and Tiyamike to help out, Uyu was always the one who did, taking on the chores that were meant to be distributed to the three of them, all while taking on her aunt's chores, all while trying to get an education.
Fortunately, with encouragement from her aunt and uncle, and the rest of the local community, Uyu did manage to get the education she wanted, going to college and getting a degree in animal science. A few years ago, when her aunt and uncle had both passed away, Uyu got sick of playing house with Chidiebere and Tiyamike and decided to apply to work on the reservation, where she has been since.
