A few people, once they turn eighteen, gain powers no one
has ever heard nor seen of before. Twelve people with these special
abilities are taken to a heavily guarded building on an island not
found on a map.

"It's for the good of the people," the guards tell them.

The people with abilities have stayed on that island for months,
going through the same schedule every day. Those people—the
people that aren't quite human anymore—are tired of staying in
the building, only allowed an hour a day outside.

They want to escape.

They'll have to make their way past armed guards, find a way to
get around the emergency lock down, and get off the island while
avoiding helicopters that continuously patrol the seas around the
island.

With their new powers, how hard can it be?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NOW? THEY'RE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

Serenity // ♀ // 18 // Fire
The fire user can control flames of any
kind. It takes effort to do so but not
as much as it takes to create flames out
of nothing. The larger the flames, the
more energy it takes. If too many flames
are created in a short amount of time,
the user will get a very high fever and
is very unlikely to survive it.
Form // ♥Princess of Lions♥

Quinn Aires Winter // ♂ // 22 // Water
The water user can control water in all
forms. It is easiest if water is already
present. Water can be frozen to be used
as weapons, but it takes more energy
to freeze than to melt. Water users are
weak in areas of low humidity. If they
create too much water in dry places, they
will become dehydrated and will die if
they do not get water.
Form // flightless birds

Delsin Oswald // ♂ // 24 // Earth
The earth user is best at controlling
plants. It takes much more energy to
move stone or dirt. As long as there is a
plant, the user can make it a weapon,
growing it many times the normal speed
and make it a weapon. If there is no plant,
the earth user can take time off their
life to grow a plant from nothing. That
is not advised unless in emergencies.
Form // prompto.

Angel Robert d'Arc // ♂ // 22 // Air
The air user can manipulate the winds.
A small breeze can become a huge gust
that can cut skin and move objects.
The larger the gust, the more energy it
takes. Large winds have a larger chance
of going out of control. It's harder to
manipulate air on humid days. They can
somewhat control the weather, using wind
to blow clouds and fog over to their location.
Form // Teekl

Jocelyn Lucina Soleil // ♀ // 21 // Light
The light user can control light. They can
bend light into weapons, the most common
form is a light spear. Light users can bend
light to create illusions, though the more
complex the illusion, the more concentration
it takes. When creating illusions, the light
user is not conscious of their surroundings
and is vulnerable to attacks. Light users
can only bend when there is a source of light.
Form // 200765

Amethyst Lilara // ♀ // 21 // Darkness
The darkness user can manipulate shadows
and darkness. They can expand shadows
and cast everything into total darkness. The
larger the area darkness covers, the more
energy it takes to maintain it. If too much
energy is used, the user becomes paler
and may disappear if they are not given
time to rest. The darkness user can also
teleport short distances through shadows.
Form // Ghostarriver

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxPHYSICALxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Cerys Quin-Lee // ♀ // 20 // Strength
The one with enhanced strength has the
ability to move objects up to ten times
their weight. They can easily break through
objects normal people can't. If they grow
angry, they are often unaware of their
own strength and can hurt others. If they
constantly lift heavy objects without
resting, their muscles get put under great
strain and their bones may snap.
Form // feather_light_flight

Gilligan William Tucker // ♂ // 22 // Speed
The one with super speed can travel
very quickly, even as fast as the speed
of sound. They have very fast reflexes.
Going at such high speeds makes it hard
to slow down quickly so they must be
aware of their surroundings. If they
travel quickly for long distances, their
body grows very tired.
Form // ×.Eɴᴛᴇʀᴛᴀɪɴᴍᴇɴᴛ.×

Tyler A. Woods// ♂ // 21 // Invisibility

The one with invisibility can become
invisible to others. They can blend into
their surroundings. If they wish, they can
make others invisible with them through
direct contact. The more mass they make
invisible at the same time, the more
energy it takes. The more mass invisible,
the shorter time everything can stay
invisible.
Form // wolverine.

Morgan Kim // ♂ // 23 // Flight
The one who can fly is able to fly without
wings or any movement. Only the thought
is needed. It takes high concentration to
stay in the air. If the user gets distracted,
they will loose control and will fall from
wherever they are. The user can only go
a mile before needing to rest, less if they
are carrying things with them.
Form // sunfall

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxMENTALxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Octavia O'Hare // ♀ // 22 // Telepathy
The one with telepathy can communicate
with other people mentally. Telepathy is
useful when they want to communicate
privately to one or a group of people. The
larger the group, the more draining it is.
When they are communicating, they are
unaware of their surroundings. They can
only communicate with others within a
hundred meter radius.
Form // tigers breath

Jonathan Windsor // ♂ // 23 // Telekinesis
The one with telekinesis can move objects
with their mind. The heavier the object,
the more difficult it is to move it. They have
to be able to see the object in order to
move it. They can only move objects they
would be able to move in real life. It is
difficult to move heavy objects for long
periods of time.
Form // Ghostarriver

Everyone on the island do not know each other well at first.
They are not allowed to have contact with each other for long
periods of time. The only time everyone is together is during
the one hour each day they spend outside. Even then, they are
heavily guarded and people are listening to their conversations.

The island itself is quite large so it is a surprise that it is not
marked on a map. People patrol the borders all the time just
in case they try to escape. Only part of the island is used. The
rest is unexplored and if explored, could provide good hiding
spots.
Facility Description

« Day One [1-#] »
• Hour outside

"I can walk perfectly well on my own, thank you very much!" Jocelyn leaned back, putting all her weight against the two guards pulling her down the hall. It was no use. To begin with, she wasn't very heavy, and the food here was less than she used to eat at home, so she had gotten skinnier and lighter in the months she had spent here. Besides, she was tired from the hour after breakfast where she had spent in the practice room, practicing using spears of sunlight. The guards continued to tug her down the hall despite her protests. Suddenly, she lurched forwards as one foot got caught on the other. Jocelyn didn't fall though, thanks to the guards' firm grips on her arms. She winced as they squeezed their hands tighter and pressed down on the bruises she received from the tests she had gone through yesterday.

The tests—experiments, really. Her stomach churned at the thought of what happened the day before. As she was lying, strapped to the metal table, she heard the scientists talk about "stage two experiments." She was pretty sure that they also mentioned the "failed test." Just the thought of that sent shivers down her spine. The scientists could only have been talking about one thing—the thirteenth prisoner that used to be with the rest of them. A couple of days ago, the older woman had disappeared after a visit to the testing rooms. The scientists said that the missing woman was being taken care of, but Jocelyn knew better. The thirteenth was dead. And Jocelyn didn't want to end up like her.

A door opened, and the two guards led her outside. As soon as she felt sunlight on her face, she paused for a bit, soaking up the bright rays and feeling less tired the longer she was standing under the sun. This time, when the guards pulled her along again, grumbling at her for not moving fast enough, she didn't stumble over her feet.

Once they reached the area where she spent the hour outside, Jocelyn quickly wriggled out of the guards' grasp. She saluted them mockingly, sticking out her tongue. "Thanks for gently escorting me here." That did nothing but made them angrier but she shrugged off their glares and walked away to the area where she normally spent her hour outside. Settling down on the grass, she looked around. It seemed like she was one of the first ones outside today. It wasn't like she talked to many people there, though she probably should get to know them. Possibly make a few friends, if not allies or acquaintances. A positive face would certainly help make the days here better.

Jocelyn tied her hair up into a ponytail, fingers moving until the band snapped into place. Breathing in and then exhaling, she crossed her legs and leaned back with her arms supporting her, tilting her face up to the sun. She sat still for a few minutes, enjoying the warmth the light gave. Once she felt warm enough, she sat straighter. Looking around her again, this time to see where the guards were, she made sure that none of them would see what she was doing. She leaned forwards so her back would block what was happening. Taking sunlight, a few rays of it bent towards her. The light started to form the shape of a weapon—not a light spear that the scientists knew she could make—a knife. Jocelyn had just started practicing a few weeks ago, trying to make something else out of light than the normal light spear. She didn't know how to use the spear really well and it would be good to be able to fight with something more familiar if she had to fight. Though given the choice, she would prefer to not to fight at all.

As she was about to solidify the light into a knife, the rays of light started to fall apart and bend away from each other. In a few moments, the knife had lost all shape and the light in her hand had disappeared. Jocelyn groaned, falling onto her back with a thump. For the past few weeks she had practiced making a light knife, the light would mold into the shape of the knife, but it would always fall apart when she tried to solidify it. Getting up onto her feet, she looked around to see that more people had arrived for the hour outside.

It had been a while since Cerys had struggled to smile, but after spending all day being relentlessly poked and jabbed by needles, ones optimism tends to wear down a bit. The guards gripping at her already bruised biceps didn't help any, and even though she could have easily thrown them off, Cerys knew such actions would only result in punishment. And so she endured as she was unceremoniously dragged outdoors and dropped into the edge of the field. After a stumble, she righted herself, sticking her tongue out at the guards - what was she, five?- and hurrying over to sit next to Jocelyn.

As the blonde took a seat next to her delicate friend, she pasted on a sunny smile, her voice chirping like a song bird, "Good morning dearie! Hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long." Even with her chipper words, one couldn't help but notice the bandages around her fingers and lining her forearm, and the dark bruises forming on her shoulders and back. They clashed with the white cotton tank top and matching shorts that Cerys typically wore for experiments. Still, her smile was bright and genuine. Cerys had always been a hearty believer that even in the worst of times, a smile was necessary.

"What did they put you through today? The scientists had me running experiments on pain tolerance, or something like that. They kept muttering some scientific gibberish, I only got like one of every five words." Cerys offered a small chuckle, as if she were simply discussing the weather, [removed]. Even so, it explained the ugly bruises.

Reason: There should not be descriptions of sadistic violence where a character takes pleasure in the victim's suffering, whether described by the aggressor, victim or onlooker.

Serenity thrashed and kicked as she always did whenever the guards decided to drag her somewhere. She didn't care where it was or why she was being taken, she would always put up a fight. Of course with such behavior came the consequences by the guards who were always trying to 'force her into submission' but her surprisingly high pain tolerance aided Serenity in her resistance. The scientists were taking a particular interest in this tolerance, wondering if it was connected to her ability. This time she had managed to burn the cheek of one of the guards during ability practice and received a blackened puffy eye for the damages she caused. Ironically, because her hands were most adept at controlling the fire the guards were forbidden to damage them. Their next best target was, of course, her pretty little face.

Serenity kept her body fully limp, actually being dragged down the hallway by the two guards manhandling her arms. One of the guards happened to be the man she had burned earlier on in the day, some sort of clear patch of ointment or something slapped over the burns to numb them. "Hey two-face, you feeling any better?" Serenity called up to him, followed by a toothy grin in his direction. He responded by grabbing a chunk of her hair and dragging her along by that as well, which caused Serenity to grimace and squirm as her scalp felt like it was peeling off. "Oh come on two-face, FA LA LA LA LA LA, siiiiing a happy song!" she continued to mock, though her voice was audibly more strained at this point. Her words echoed down the halls, a haunting memory of childhood shows many had loved to watch so long ago.

The guard decided not to respond, and instead, Serenity was dragged out into the field. The bright sun briefly blinded her as her blackened eye needed an extra moment to get its bearings. Blinking while her eyes adjusted, the guards hauled her up and slung her to the ground. Landing with a grunt, Serenity quickly scrambled to her feet and dusted her pants of their dirt. Her sloppy bright red hair fell awkwardly around her cheeks after having been bunched up in the guard's hand, and Serenity reached up to ruffle it back to a more comfortable positioning.

Once her eyes had adjusted, her gaze flickered about the slowly filling field, searching for that mysterious thirteenth member who had vanished. Still no sign of her. Serenity had no idea where she went or what happened, but when asked she was able to think up a million different versions of events. Could it be possible that she was executed on purpose? Perhaps executed for becoming too dangerous, or refusing to submit. If that were the case, Serenity had a strong feeling she would die next. This thought occurred to her more than once, but she wasn't about to start changing her behavior. She wasn't really afraid, but at the same time she also wasn't fond of imagining her untimely demise.

Making her way through the field, Serenity stared at the dirt with a furrowed brow as if she were analyzing it, stopping at a seemingly random point and dropping to her knees. Digging her fingernails into the dirt, Serenity began to pull it free and move it aside. She continued her strange digging in silence, an odd habit she had been keeping since her first day at the facility. Yes, every day since she had arrived Serenity has dug holes in the yard. Sometimes it was just one or two, but other days she dug as many as ten. Eventually it became something normal, something to be expected of her and something that the guards no longer gave a second thought to. It was simply dismissed as a nervous habit by most, others dismissed Serenity herself as completely insane.

Regardless, she continued to dig until she had created a hole of about six inches deep, after which she reburied the hole and began to dig another.

"please, hold me tighter" Quinn teased as he once again was getting hauled through the hallways by two guards. "you know I like it" he then added with a grin, turning his head to look over at the guard on his left. the man hesitated a reaction, unsure of how he should respond to it. And Quinn knew it, the grin growing wider on his face as he waited for a reaction. The guard then tightened his grip on his bicep, Quinn opening his mouth to speak and tease him once more before the guard on his right used his knee to roughly knee the back of his own. Quinn legs buckling under him as he fell, or at least tried to. both the tight grips on his arms preventing him from actually falling. Instead he just hung there for a second, before recomposing himself from the rough tug of his shoulder from him tripping "you're too good to me" he teased under his breath as he stood back up, the guards not hesitating in their steady walk to the exit of the building.

Once the three of them had made it outside the guards roughly let him go and pushing him forward, Quinn tripping on the sand as he tried to keep his balance. "thank you boys, I hope we can continue this later" he told him as he turned his head to glance back at the both of them before walking further away form them. he knew he would see them again today, or another set of guards that would escort him everywhere. it was nice because they never seemed to get used to his teasing, and when they did the other accompanying them would still be off put by them. It's the little things that keep Quinn going.

Quinn adjusted the white shirt he had on and rotated his arm to adjust them from the trip a few moments earlier. ever since the experiments and the treatment from the guards had gotten worse Quinn's body has been constantly aching. Of course he would expect nothing less form his he treated the guards but the experiments just seem ridiculous now. today he spent time on using his powers defensively. Constantly fighting other guards and without a break, plus they supplied little to no water for him to use forcing him to use his own which took him time and energy since he normally uses what is there. Plus witch the constant beat downs , today was not a good day for him.

There were only a few already out here, from what he could see. It's not like they were allowed to go far, being under constant watch prevented them from doing so. And there was Serenity, doing her normally digging like always. He's never really talked to anyone here, only knowing their name with a face and their powers. He's not a really friend kind of person who wants someone to talk to. What is there even to talk about here? It's not like they are kept in touch with the real world. Quinn approached the girl from her back, crouching down beside her once he was near her "you're really showing that sand who's boss, huh?" he questioned as he watched her hand furiously dig at the sand to dig a deeper and deeper hole.

☢ — gilligan "gill" tucker [ 001 ]

    ____________________________________________________________
    ( male ) ( twenty-two ) ( speed ) ( no relationships ) ( building, field ) ( jocelyn, cerys )
    ____________________________________________________________
The hallways were generally quiet all day everyday. It could tell a story. Perhaps others are being quiet just because they like the silence. Maybe it's because of the comfort it provides. And there's others like Gilligan at the moment in a very different area, disturbing the silence. Have you ever seen a six year old tugging on her mom's hand as she leads them out of the house to school or something and they're whining 'they don't wanna go' quietly. Good. Now take that six year old, turn it into a twenty-two year old man, make them the tallest here, give them amazing beautiful hair (in his amazing opinion), and call it Gilligan. That's how he was acting and did it on purpose.

"But I don't wanna go. I'm still tired." He whined in a playful tone, though he had a smirk on his face at the guards obvious annoyed and frustrated expressions. Gill honestly did want to go outside, it was way too quiet and not enough space for him in the building, which he could hardly move in for that matter. He needed to get out more. He was still tired however from eating a wholesome nutritious breakfast of assumingly one small thing which could get him through about thirty minutes and then practicing his skills. "Or I could make do with nap but whatever." Eh, he could do with a bowl of cereal and a nice bed and some Netflix so he could watch Grey's Anatomy or The Walking Dead, but sadly enough, those things aren't here and no matter how much he tries, he can't think about it much due to stress of being here.

The guards were grabbing him by his wrists, tugging him along forcefully and Gilligan walked right after with a now casual expression, shutting up as he winced lightly at the touch. It didn't hurt as much as he thought it would, but it made him slightly self-conscious about the bruises on his wrists from the tests or experiments. During yesterday at his desired time of testing since it was kind of one at the time he thought, he overheard them talking about a stage two, which he immediately didn't like. A failed test was also brought up. The thirteenth person here was an instant suspect. Gill didn't know the woman well other than the fact that she was older than him, and a metalbender, but she was really well respected by him. So when guards said "she's been taken cared of" and she wasn't around the next day, he knew some crap went down and he didn't want it happening to him.

During his pondering, Gill found himself outside and let out a sigh as the wind slightly eased him then looked over at his very annoyed guards and smirked. "You have my respect if it means anything to you, but then again I hardly have any for any of you so screw off please," he said, in the most casual and nonchalant tone, though his expression told otherwise as the guards gave him a scowl and walked off to where the other guards were. The man hummed to himself and looked around. It was calm and quiet, very spacious. If he didn't have restrictions about his powers, he would be running around like a maniac for fun. Unfortunately, there are, so Gill found himself attracted to a small group of flowers beside the garden, just because he can. He sat down crisscross and laughed gently to himself. "Wonder if I would be judged for talking to flowers. What do you think?" He muttered jokingly to amuse himself, the wind shaking the flowers gently and he 'responded'. "Why thank you, you're an amazing listener."

After a few more sad looking one sided conversations, Gilligan looked up and soon saw two kind of familiar but kind of stranger figures. Two girls, one was a brunette the other was blond. They looked around in the same height, but still much shorter than him. He was pretty sure he was the tallest here. Thanks parent genetics. It was kind of fun looking down at people though, not that way, and teasing them about it. He was sure the brunette was namrd Jocelyn. Yep. The other was something he hasn't heard before, and that made him remember Cerys.

The two girls were talking to each other a short distance away, it was unreachable with his hearing so Gilligan stood up, put his hands into his pockets and walked over, humming a small tone. He hasn't made any real friends at the place since they hardly saw each other as it is. He knew a few people in the building but didn't know many at the same time which sometimes leaves him talking to inanimate objects. Hence, the flower. It somehow soothes him. Once walking over, he sat down comically and flashed a warm smile. "Hiya! Jocelyn and Cerys, right?" He asked politely. He tried to appear friendly, and he always was. Gill could recall two or more times where his height had scared somebody. One time he got questioned because a kid ran away from him, which was awkward to explain.

“Now just lie back and-”
“Cut the chatter and get to it.” Amethyst sighed, watching the scientist strap her wrists down.
“Some people do not appreciate that tone.” Amethyst gave a nonchalant shrug, laying her head back and resting it against the cold metal. The scientist placed a hand behind her ear, feeling for the scar where the implant had been placed. Having checked it, the procedure was promptly continued, wires being attached to Amethyst’s arm to monitor her heart rate, while more were attached to her forehead to record brain patterns. There was a steady beeping, signifying that her heart was beating at its normal pace, while colors danced across the screen within, what was meant to represent, her cranium. As a device was placed over her eyes, the scientist smirked, slightly.
“Now, remember, whatever you see next is not real.”
“Yeah, whatever, we’ve done this... what? 6471 times?”
“Actually 6472 times.”
“My point exactly. Let’s get this over with.” Amethyst huffed. She heard a quiet chuckle.
“Begin simulation 6473.” The scientist turned back to her. “Now just relax...”

Half an hour later and Amethyst was being escorted to the field, for her hour outside, with a black eye and a few – or rather a lot of – bruises on her arms, her wrists now as purple as her name implied. She’d also had to get the stitches redone behind her ear, having torn them while thrashing around. While the guards dragging her out tightened their grip on her arms, Amethyst glanced around, surveying the walls, for about the hundredth time that day. They were all still stuck on this infernal island, as guinea pigs.
All ‘for the protection of the greater good’. There wasn’t really much of that left these days.

These days, you didn’t really know who was working for who and who the perpetrator was and who the victim was –until they were all dead.
… And even then, you were never really sure where people’s loyalties lay.
If there was anything Amethyst’s experience in the CIA had taught her, it was that trust was a difficult thing to come by.
That couldn’t be have clearer than when her higher ups had just thrown her in a cell and started drilling holes in her head.
All for the good of humanity.

Eventually, she realised that they’d reached the field and Amethyst quirked a brow, as the guards placed their hands on their weapons.
“Thanks for the entourage guys. I really oughta repay you for your top notch services, I’ll make a sandwich for you later.” she scoffed, as they looked at each other, before spinning on her heels, flicking her hair over her shoulder and storming off. She was probably lucky that she hadn’t been tranquilised on the way.

Placing a finger on the stitches, gingerly, Amethyst pondered the disappearance of the thirteenth. She’d probably been the most spirited among them. And must have paid dearly for it.
Talk of ‘stage two’ testing and ‘a failed experiment’ were pretty obvious hints that for here on out, everything was going to get worse for the metahumans there, ever-abusive guards or not. Whatever it was, Amethyst knew for sure she wasn’t going to take part in ‘stage two’ even if it was any better than now, though the chances of that were below negative.
Looking at her finger, she huffed, rubbing her index and thumb together, gauging how much blood there was. It didn’t seem like particularly much, but would it have hurt to maybe have cleaned it up a little? It wouldn’t do for these guys to get one of their precious experiments killed off would it? Then again, they expected her to survive regardless and that’s what she did.

Soon she caught sight of a redhead, digging holes, and a male, who happened to stop by. Amethyst searched long and hard in her memory banks for their names. The girl was the pyrokinetic and the youngest one, if Amethyst recalled correctly. What had they said her name was? Serenity! That was it.
Amethyst could recall the male’s name more easily, as she recognised him as Quinn.
“You two look like you’ve had an eventful morning.” Amethyst tucked her hands into the pockets of her black hoodie, as she sauntered over to the other two.

Jonathan had been moving objects around with his mind all morning and it was really wearing him out. But still he was ordered on, move this, move that to the point that it took a lot of effort to keep Jonathan from simply collapsing and even more restraint to prevent him from throwing something at them.
But still, they kept demanding him to perform, with whispers of consequences for failure. And that had apparently already happened once, when Jonathan had realised the metal bender was now missing. He had to say he’d quite liked her, respected her even, but that had been a dangerous thing to do. She’d now been ‘taken care of’ and John didn’t intend to follow that route and find out what failing entailed.
So he continued, as he was supposed to.

Eventually he was let out for his free hour outside. Well, technically he was dragged out, since he had pretty much all but exhausted himself from moving things around since morning.
“Y’know, it’s considered rude where I come from, if you don’t offer a bloke a cuppa after he’s done a favour for you. And by ‘cuppa’, I mean a cup of tea, in case you didn’t know.” He was responded with an insult and an uppercut to the jaw, before being thrown outside.

Rubbing his chin, Jonathan walked forward, rather slowly, still not completely sure on his feet. He probably needed to talk to some of the others, rather than stand around doing nothing.
Soon, the Brit caught sight of two females and someone who was walking up to them. Jonathan recognised Gilligan, the speedster and the only person Jonathan had ever met who was taller than him. Gill was a very tall lad indeed.
The other two took John a little longer to remember, purely because it took something fairly impressive to get Jonathan to remember, such as Gilligan’s height. Eventually, though, he remembered their names, Jocelyn and Cerys. Now he just had to remember their Powers, but he supposed he could figure that out along the way.

Sitting near them, he smiled, bowing slightly, mostly to amuse himself when he saw their reactions.
“A very good day to you my fine people, I do hope you’ve been faring well, though admittedly, I myself have been a little under the weather.” The Shakespearian accent John used was clearly exaggerated, but tell someone your British and that was usually what they expected of you anyway. John wondered what these three would expect.
