Jane Starworth
"What the h***..." Jane held her head as she sat herself up.
Hello, Jane. A male robotic voice spoke in her head.
"What the-?!"
How it cheers me to see you conscious. Pst. If you did not know, I am happy.
"Yeah, I think I got what that meant."
I know.
Jane stood up with some difficulty. She leaned on one of the fallen ceiling beams. "What the h*** happened?!"
An asteroid hit the earth. And you were out for quite a while. I could not wake your stupid butt up.
Jane put her head in her hand.
"So... everyone's... dead...?"
Fear began to creep up on Jane.
As far as I can tell, yes. I have not been able to scan for any unexpired life.
"Can you do it now?!"
Uhh... I do not know.
Jane walked over to where a wall window used to be. The glass had shattered and now it was a big open wall. Jane looked down at the city.
"It could be worse..." Jane stated, seeing that some parts of the city weren't that badly damaged at all.
I could only scan a mile radius. There is no life within the radius. It is unlikely many survived.
"Well, what could've killed all of them?!"
Poison.
"Poison? Like it got in the air and... oh god..."
Some of my memory banks are being recovered now. You were protected from the poison.
"How?"
Have you noticed the device around your head?
Jane reached up. "Oh ****."
Indeed. The device is connected to your brain. And your skull. I was able to keep your brain functions working and your body preserved with the help of the preservation machine you were still attached to. I was able to turn your breathing off long enough for the poison to pass, before the preservation machine finally broke down.
"Aw, crud..."
You may have lost a few memories.
"..."
Do not panic and please hold on to your butt. We will focus on one situation at a time.
"I wasn't going to panic."
We should start looking for survivors.
"No kidding."
