Glacignis burst out of the water, the glittering drops creating a halo of refracted light. The fish clamped in her jaws was large for its size, and it would greatly help her brood.

The water rolled off her silky fur and splashed into the waters of the deep as she flew. The wind blew against her, but she had already adjusted to the harsh temperature.

She looked up in shock towards the location of her brood, where a harsh shrieking cry had sounded. Something had happened. Doubling her pace, Glacignis flew like a dart towards her brood.

Emerald had several, small, silver fish in a pile next to her. Noddding to herself she grasped the fish in her jaws and began, slowly, flying back to the brood.

She was quite far away, but by the time she was getting close, she could hear shreaking. Worried she flew as fast as was possible with her load.

When Glacignis arrived at her brood, it was in great disorder. Mothers were trying to calm their children, everyone was fluttering around confusedly and a cacophony of noise was resounding through the air.

Glacignis landed by the prey pile, and dropped the limp fish onto it. She saw another ferret, Emerald she thought her name was, land near her with fish in her mouth looking as confused as she was.

"What's happening?" she asked a ferret near her. He turned around, and his eyes were wild and frightened.

"The monster is back on the hunt!" he exclaimed. "They've found another body!"

Glacignis felt an icy fist of fear grip her heart.

Mustafos heard a peircing scream, but it did not come from his own fiery brood, so he neither reacted nor cared.

"Wh-who was it?" she asked, a tremor in her voice. Selfishly she prayed it wasn't anyone she cared about. But that didn't matter. Her brood was a social one, and someone would be mourning the dead ferret today.

"I don't know... They won't let anyone near..." he said.

"Where are they?" she asked. Glacignis had always been curious as a young ferret, and growing up, that hadn't changed.

"Over there," he said, motioning to a place where the ferrets were very thickly gathered. "But it doesn't matter, they won't let anyone through."

Glacignis felt a brief burst of anger at the unintentional insult.

"If they are going to let anyone through, it will be me," she hissed. He shrank away, and she pulled herself up into the air, heading over to the commotion.

(How close are the brood territories? And what brood is this that they are in?)

[[[The brood territories are spaced out everywhere in their sector. Mine and *Autumn*'s ferrets are in the eastern area. Their brood is located close to the pole, where ice and water would be, like the arctic on earth. You haven't specified how close you brood is. ]]]]

[[[well, you can get volcanoes everywhere, even in generally very cold places. Plus, it's a made up world, you can pretty much do anything with it, lol. I just think it would be easier to have them closer together.
