Solarpaw blinked in surprise, trying to make the tears stop falling. He held his breath for a moment, then snapped back, "You don't understand! You never dreamed of a warrior all your life to have it stamped on! I don't want to be a medicine cat!" he jumped to his feet and quickly ran away. He couldn't see anything, so that was a problem.

Moonsong sighed, "I know. Well... it happened a long time ago. Very long time ago. I don't really know what happened. Just a certain cat in my Clan turned against me because I had to exile his son, Flame. I don't even know if Flame is alive."

"Oh..." Moonpaw murmured, looking down into the clearing. "So what happened, exactly?"

Nightlily snarled at the tom, and ran after him. "Solarpaw!" she snapped, skidding in front of him

Solarpaw glared at her, "What?"

Moonsong shook her head, "In my sleep he tried to kill me. It was terrible, he had ganged with some of the other cats and before I knew it they were on top of me." she shuddered at the memory, "I somehow managed to survive, but the rest is a blur."

[star star.]

"Look, I'm sorry I snapped, but... a few moons back I lost my first apprentice to the same thing that happened to you. She became blind and wondered off a cliff. I know you dreamed of being a warrior. I did too. But I couldn't take the fighting. That's why I became who I am."

Moonpaw sighed. "That's scary. If that ever happened to me, I'd either exile them or... well I don't know." She looked down and saw the entire clan out of their dens. "Is one of them flame?Like, did he come back from exilation?"

Solarpaw stared at her blindly, almost feeling her hard gaze on his. He sighed, nodding his head, "OK. I... I guess this is destiny anyways. I'm sure MoonClan had a reason for this... so I won't say no. I'll be your apprentice. And, don't worry. I'll avoid the cliffs." he licked her ear playfully.

Moonsong nodded, "Of course. I managed to kill off the cats who questioned me, so I welcomed Flame back. He should be waking up right around now, actually."

Nightlily giggled. "Good, Solarpaw," she whispered, nuzzling him. "I'll go tell Flashstar."

"Oh... Is that him?" Moonpaw asked, flicking her tail at one of the ginger cats

Moonsong nodded, "That's him, alright."

Flame yawned and stretched, blinking at the morning light.

Solarpaw sighed, "OK, Nightlily."
