Rale shugged. "To get experience. I think an alpha should know his way around"

"So you've always wanted to be alpha then?" Kaala asked.

"Well," Rale said. "When I was a puppy I looked at my alpha. I just wanted to be like him, he seemed so great" Rale smiled, remembering his puphood. "So I asked him one day, what it was like to be alpha. I asked what he liked best about it. I asked how he became alpha"

Kaala nodded. "What was it like to grow up in a pack?" she asked after a few minutes silence. Having grown up with only one other wolf around, she was genuinely curious.

Rale thought. He didn't know how to explain it very well. "I dunno, I guess..."

Kaala shrugged. "It doesn't matter" she said. "I was jusy curious."

after walking some more Rale saw the meat shop and hardware store again. He stopped and looked around the city.

"Are we going to the same place or somewhere different?" Kaala asked.

"I'm not sure," Rale mumbled as he gazed at all the stores

Kaala looked around too. "Do they keep any traps... not in their dens?" she asked.
