You are correct, COPPAs cannot get PMs and can get trade messages.
I was hacked. Not going to remake all my groups and such unless I feel like it. That's a lotta work. Don't bother with trades, everything's a mess.

I don't think it's really possible to get around it as is. ^^; COPPAs only have a range of options (CS provides some pre-typed messages for them) to reply to trade messages, so they can't send personal information of any sort to the other player.

What I mean is, if they don't allow PMs, people could message them through trades.

It's not against the law for other people to talk to COPPAs, they just have to do it in trades (where the most likely theme is trading) or on the forums/oekaki. COPPAs can't receive PMs because it's pointless when they can't reply. The point of COPPA is to prevent kids from giving out their personal information, not to prevent others from talking to them (appropriately and within the rules, of course). Making COPPAs unable to see trade messages would make trading with them even more difficult (for both COPPAs and other users) and considering not a lot of people, if any, are going to send children rude or inappropriate messages through a trade, I don't think it is necessary to take anything more away from them.

It should not effect those people, CS notes your IP address when you sign up and requests you age if your IP states that you are in the US.

Tess wrote:If you think you or someone you know was given COPPA protection but lives outside of the US, get in touch with CS staff. Occasionally it can be given to members from other countries by mistake if the forum has trouble working out which country you're logging in from when you sign up. It may also be applied to children if they've visited the US temporarily and logged in while there, even if they're not there any more.

Also I didn't see this mentioned and it should probably be added, COPPA'd can't use custom avatars, they can only use avatars from the gallery here on CS.

It's also worth adding in here that COPPA users are able to post in the dressup forums as well as the oekaki now - this means they can submit dressups themselves and reply to others'. c:

As far as I know they will still require approval.
