I was watching my friend tradeing and 2+ people offered her rares for a staff pet, so It might matter on the person wanting the pet.

Staff pets are worth their rariry and date, but they often have edited/special lines (they're dogs, but most don't look like it, right?) some people overpay a little for them.

Yes, you can have staff pets, they're normal pets, it's just a big litter in which most if the currently active CS pet artist do one outcome, in any way they want, they all stick to one color palette.

The Staff Litter is done once each year, before 2013 it was in November but now it's on September

That pet above is Chia's staff pet from 2015.

It should also be important to note that the General Helpers have made two staff-litter-style litters in the past, only with cats, in June 2016 and June 2017. Some people also consider these to be "staff pets," although they tend to be a little less popular than the main staff litter pets, potentially due to their species or the smaller scale of the litters.
