Is the pound only open a few hours at a time? I'm new and was just wondering.

The pound starts with a random number of pets (usually around 2000) and remains open until all of them have been adopted. The time it takes for this to happen varies on the time of day, since certain periods are more active than other. It could take less than an hour in some cases, or several during the slower times!
