How do i use Layers?

How do I use Layers in Chicken paint? Does it allow you to color in specific parts of the lineart? When ever I draw/color lineart it covers the lines of the lineart DX I am horrible at describing things..

When you first open up the paint the layers box should already be there. On the bottom left the click the + sign to add layers, and to color under the lines, click and drag the layer under the lineart layer.
If the layer box isn't there, click "pallettes" at the top of the paint window and click layers, then the box will come up.
