Weakness Is Strength (poem)

Weakness is Strength

What is viewed as weakness in ones own eyes
Is often Strength in another's eyes
Likewise, what is viewed in ones own eyes as strength
Is its own kind of weakness

When I try to be strong
I end up weak
When I feel weak
It is actually strength

Even Iron
Always so strong and dependable
If not maintained over time
Will one day crumble

If an Iron bridge
Were to tell it's maker
I am strong, I do not need your upkeep
Eventually, it too would fall apart

Like People, in many ways
Our own strength can only hold up for so long
We need that upkeep and help from others
But we need to accept the help

When I try to be strong
and pretend it is all “ok”
In fear of scaring away those close to me
It is then that I push them away

But when I show my weakness
and allow it to show that I am not “ok”
It is then that I end up
With some amazing friends

Weakness is
Trying to handle everything on your own
Strength is
When you allow yourself to lean on others

The appearance of strength
Is weakness
And the feeling of weakness
Is often strength
