what's your guys' take on using real-life people as characters? I base a lot of characters off of real-life people, but I wouldn't actually write about them, I just find it kinda weird.

Have you ever felt so motivated but yet.. not so motivated? Yes, I think I understand what you're saying.

hey yall! it's been... months since i last posted on this thread. my only excuse is seasonal depression my short attention span school tbh. the only narrative piece with a hint of plot i've written since school started in august is this disaster, a failed and probably abandoned attempt at coldflash fanfic. help me. oh, i also changed my user. i was rusiriuss. no idea why i decided to become a macromolecule, but that's what happens when you have ap bio i guess.



what's your guys' take on using real-life people as characters? I base a lot of characters off of real-life people, but I wouldn't actually write about them, I just find it kinda weird.

personally, i'd only ever write a real human if i knew them personally, they lived in the past, or i was writing a crossover fic. you know the ones where fictional characters get sent to the real world and meet their actors or vice versa? one of those.

you know how i said i hadn't written anything? i lied. i've written a lot, but everything's been for class. i started to write poetry and speeches on my own time, though, which is kinda cool. well, i say speeches, but they're really just me ranting on a piece of paper to make myself feel better. i won't share them because they're very personal, but i recommend writing some rants if you ever need to get it out of your system. it really helps.

well, i'm probably going to vanish again. don't choke on any carrots or get smote while i'm gone!

In all seriousness writers block can honestly feel like your creativity has died. This goes for most forms of block, and by that I mean artists block, crafters block, writers block etc.

@ all yall - thanks <3 It seems like whenever a bout of writers block eventually leaves, I end up having a ton of story ideas and have a burst of creativity so at least I've got that to look forward to!

I would choose Edgar Allan Poe, or indeed any of the Romantic writers (as in the movement, not the genre). In the last few months, I've been reading a lot of his stuff, poetry and short stories, as well as Dracula and Frankenstein, which means I've got a vague grasp on the archaisms and the language differences associated with the time. I also love the dark themes and the first person narrator stuff. I've been writing mainly in the third person recently, so being bale to write in the first person like that would be really fun I think. It would also be a good challenge for me, to try and use the archaisms and old language structure. (Ngl, I might try this soon.)

If you had to write a story in another author's style, who would you choose and why?

I um... Hm.. Maybe James Patterson? He has a pretty good style and writes first person really well. Though Maximum Ride is the only series of his that i've read and a little of the... Daniel series that he has.

So yeah.. Most likely James Patterson. Or the Woman who writes the Gregor the Overlander Series. She's good too.
