♛ - an eternal conundrum - ♛

"In your life, regardless of what changes.
i only seek to be the one constant."

and he crumpled the paper and tossed it into the trashcan.

how could ink convey emotion?

how could you articulate hatred, anger, envy, sadness, happiness, confusion... in the strokes of a pen?

"if a picture is worth a thousand words then the mind is truly inexplicable."

his skills...were lacking.. he was unsatisfied. For in his mind he could craft masterpieces...but he was left with nothing when presented the opportunity.

he could do nothing. he could only wonder

[King Andre]

也 许 在 另 一 个 平 行 时 空 里 , 我 们 是 在 一 起 的.

[King Andre]

mind my careless words,

for they are both empty and full

they hold no meaning, and yet they say everything

intended to be heard, and said so they can be forgotten

, to be deceived by such effortless thought only makes for

a beautiful tragedy.

[King Andre]

and he said

"i will be the rose of your heart that never wilts."

and he wanted to be.

because he loved her.

and he desperately wanted her to feel the same.

"how could you want something you already have?"

he believed only a fool stopped chasing the heart of who he was enamored with after he obtained it.

because it is always racing

and he desperately wanted to keep up.

[King Andre]

i. oh icarus,

you've flown too high to see your own folly

innocent icarus, blinded by love for the sky and the world

too high to see that you've wrought your own destruction

and he would be scattered in the wind like petals

but he would never touch the sky, like those petals

"maybe we weren't meant to fly, is heaven is too far away to reach on paper wings?"

and he accepted such fate, for he knew of it before he ever fell.

"it's my fate, isn't it? I might as well try." he said with a smile. it was a happy smile, a genuine smile of warmth.

despite the tragic end he faced.

ii. they wondered

"why would you take an arrow not meant for you?"

she was equally foolish for this

blinded by pride and ignorance

she led even those she loved the most into a place unforgiving

and they would never leave that place, in their mind.

but even they must've known what lay ahead.

they cared too much to forsake who was close to them

"all those bygone years."

in doing so, they lost a part of them.

and that part of them was foreign to them,

forever.

[King Andre]

and so icarus fell

it was sunset, and though he fell fast;; he felt weightless

the world around him was almost ethereal

"I've seen this before."

he remembered it crisply, within his mind

he'd dreamed about this

perhaps it was a dream... one that either plagued him or he had not yet been stirred from

but he knew all too well that he was awake.

iii.

and the wingless angel did not find oblivion

or the nothingness he sought

only the cruel darkness of night

and the wraith of his mind

for even if his eyes fixed themselves

darkness was darkness

"becoming accustomed to shadows doesn't create light does it?"

he asked

"no, it only makes you blind."

[King Andre]

(prologue)

the air was still

and silence screamed

but he was happy

(right?)

everyone was

at-least he should've been.

but even then, the realization that he was happy was enough to cease joy
because, he knew, in the end, it was all temporary, so why let yourself be truly happy,
if it won't last?

live in the moment;;

his father's advice reverberated in his mind.

"but if i don't let myself enjoy the moment, there's less to miss when it's all over."

after-all, it was better to be less than miserable all the time, than melancholic when it all became just memories,

playing in the back of the mind,

wasn't it?

less to miss, less to cry over.

but more to regret,

the eternal conundrum
