who holds the other end of the string: (up to 1000 words, but dont feel required to write something long! )
There was a red string held by the kindhearted
He was in love but his love parted
The red string held them together
They knew their love would last forever
Neither was ready to separate
While away he barely ate
So scared of what may happen to him
You never saw either one of them grin
Each day would past but seem like weeks
He decided to go visit the creek
All he saw was a sad reflection
He wanted to go out and state his objection
He cut a small tree he planted himself
To make a picket fence for everyone else
They all went out into the streets together
"No more war" they shouted through the cold weather
Their voice was heard but easily ignored
They continued to take more soldiers on board
Each of them holding on to their string
For it was an unofficial wedding ring
They waited for their loved ones to return
But for most of them of their stomaches churned
As they didn't see their string anymore
Or their loved ones step through the door
Osmo's string got shorter and shorter
Till his love was around the corner
His heart fluttered when they hugged
He was at a loss for words like he'd been plugged
They have been closer than ever since that night
But they'll never forget their horrible plight
When he was off to a war that shouldn't have been started
Which made two lovebirds become parted
This is my first time writing a poem
