WHAT ARE THEY?

Illarons ( ee - ya - ron ) are a cat-like creature native to rocky, high-elevation regions (though they can survive in other habitats if domesticated). Adults are usually somewhere between the size of a large dog and a tiger; despite their size, they are very passive creatures and not hostile. They have no natural predators and no need to fight. A Illaron's long foreclaws aid it in digging into the rocks of it's habitat, supporting their wide diet of plants, insects, and small rodents/reptiles. They are also equipped with powerful back legs and long tails, perfect for stalking and capturing an occasional bird.

A Illaron's defining trait, are the stone-like patches across their bodies, which contrast greatly against their soft fur. Researchers' best guess is that they are a natural adaptation to the landscape, giving Illarons a geode-esque look. The geodes can range widely in shape, size, and placement, but researchers have noted that small, ovals/circles on the cheeks and shoulders are the most common; the rarer shapes/placements have been labeled as such due to their high-demand in domesticated Illarons. Though the reason for these spots are unknown, they are consistent throughout the species, and no Illaron is born without them. Whatever their cause, their geodes have given Illarons a place among the public as a fascinating, alluring creature.

GENERAL RULES

> Illaron's are a closed species. Any Illaron not created by staff is not real and will not been seen as such.
> Be polite when interacting in the community. Harassment/bullying/rudeness will not be tolerated.
> Do not complain or harass artists about adopts. Artists have the right to chose how their designs are adopted out and who they are adopted to.
> Illarons cannot be traded/sold for neither on nor off-site currency. On/off-site currency may be exchanged for adopts only if the original artist chooses to hold auctions for their designs. Illarons can be traded for other Illarons publicly (on the main thread) with consent of both parties.
> This species base is not for any use other than this adopt.

BREEDING RULES

> Illarons can breed with any other Illaron, regardless of gender. The only restriction on pairs is that the two Illarons cannot be related.
> NB's will always be a randomly rolled number between one and four.
> All traits will be rolled for via a random number generator unless a mutation ticket is used.
> To make the process as fair as possible, breedings cannot be reserved or claimed ahead of time.
> Any breeding tickets/items must be noted on a form when it is posted. Editing a form after posting will result in the form being void.

STAFF RULES

> Artists may chose to hold any competition type they see fit.
> After thirty days of being on the team and/or creating at least seven regular Illarons, artists may chose to occasionally sell their regular adopt designs for on/off site currency (c$, CS pets/items, FR currency, DA points, etc.). Designs can be sold for real money via paypal, but only if the adopt is posted through Deviant Art and as an alternative payment to DA points. (artists please PM me to get the full guidelines if you are going to do this).
> On the first of each month, each active staff member will earn one unlimited uncommon+, double rare mutation custom ticket that they can chose to use, combine with other custom tickets, or save for later. These customs have the same restrictions as any other custom.
> Guest artists will earn one unlimited common custom ticket at the end of their term with which they can chose to make themselves, have another artist make, or save for later.
> Artists must attach the full list of edits/mutations in the post of designs they create.
