I got 2 new guinea pigs last week. Red teddies. We named them Ariel and Merida. lol

Sadly, one of my girls named Lola passed away today. Plus my old girl Bess is starting to lose weight and slow down a little.... Such a a bummer. -.- My poor girls.

My poor old girl Nikki had to go to the vet's this morning as she was making the dreaded guinea pig "hooting" sound the day before. Well, it turns out that it's not heart problems, and the hooting stopped yesterday, which is the good (very good!) news. The bad news is that her breathing is heavy, so the vet put her on a dose of antibiotics as well as a probiotic in case it's the early sign of a URI forming, and the x-rays showed that she's formed several more small stones, as well as bone deterioration. Ugh! The bone deterioration is likely from a lack of vitamin C she received as a pup before she was in my care, as she gets 1/8 of a cup of Oxbow Cavy Cuisine pellets (always has in my care), 1/8 of a green bell pepper (again, always has in my care), and as of the past 6 months or so, 33 mg of a vitamin C supplement daily due to her age, which is 6 years. The poor girl has been through a lot over the years, but she's a fighter for sure and I'm confident we can get through this.

soooo lemme introduce you to my lil' girl caramel! she's my second guinea pig and i have a big girlie named muffin. (i'll manage to sneak in a few photos up her later.) and i absolutely love caramel. i got caramel on my beastie's birthday and she was half the size of muffin! although i got both of my cavies at young ages, i noticed that caramel was a bit more shy. and i guess it was expected right! well now she's part of the family and she'll do a small wheek sound and she'll literally sound like a bear! everytime my parents go downstairs, they start squeaking. my girls love the attention and like to spend their days eating timothy hay or having some carrots to munch on.
caramel has gotten an eye infection before, sadly and my mom and i took care of her. we had bought this eye cream that you'd put in the eye and it would heal? yes, well it did. we sometimes let caramel leave the cage and we put her on our huge, beige couch. she'll run over to you and jump onto your lap actually. (very cute, so sweet) she's shy of meeting muffin sometimes so we're thinking about separating the two since muffin is a bit older and tougher to her!

I have 2 guinea pigs, Waffles and Fro. They're my babies, and Waffles may be a bit overweight, but thats okay. He's fat and happy.
