does anyone know the best heat lamp for a bearded dragon? I have a few in mind but I'd like to make sure before actually getting my beardie ;w;

Actually, I'd recommend flood lamps! Reptile-oriented heat lamps tend to be cheaply made and break easily.

my reptiles (aka my personal pets)
1.1 Uromastyx geyri, 3.1 Uromastyx ornata, 1.0 Uromastyx acanthinurus nigriventris, 2.0 piebald ball pythons, 1.0 puma ball python

i study lizards & bugs and like animals

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

@blueh
a flood lamp as in something like this? I've never seen that used before but if it's better I'd love to look into it instead!

You can use domes like are used for reptile oriented bulbs, just use a flood light bulb in a properly sized dome. Just make sure the wattage of the bulb is equal to or less than the wattage of the dome

(i should have said light instead of lamp, sorry! haven't had a good nights sleep in a while) I use reptile domes and get a flood light from Home Depot. Just have to make sure the wattage is not too high. I have uromastyx, which are similar to beads in some ways, and my set up is very similar to this:

You can also do something like this, but it doesn't give you the adjustability that reptile domes do:

    personally, i find a mix of ceramic heat
    lamps and colorless heat lamps work best.
    what i normally do best for my beardie, whom
    is about nine months hence the higher wattage
    is give him a one hundred watt ceramic heat lamp
    alongside a colorless lamp which looks like this.
    and that one’s about sixty watts. however at night,
    i remove the heat lamp and keep the ceramic
    in so i don’t interrupt his sleeping schedule with
    the bright light. however, every owner and beardie
    is different so you may need to alter the wattage
    especially if your beardie is younger or older and
    where the lamps are placed. but this is only
    my opinion so feel free to experiment, but do
    stay away from colored lamps as they are meant
    for nocturnal lizard species, in which beardies
    are dirunal so it interupts with their night schedule.
    also i’d be wary of heat pads or rocks as they can
    burn your beardie. hope this helps c:
