So, my horses live at home with me, and my coach drives out because I have my own arena and jumps, sometimes I'll trailer my horses out to her place, but I still consider her barn "my barn."
There is this one Canadian horse at my barn that I've been helping my coach get back into shape, because his owner never comes to ride him, and my coach needs him for her intermediate rider riding camp in August.. which she also needs me to help her out with because there are more people coming than planned.
This Canadian horse's owner is away on vacation, but she still never rides him even when she is home.
I messaged her the other day letting her know I'm exercising him for her, and that he's doing well, etc... She messages me back asking if I can still ride him whens she returns. I tell her no, because I have my own horses to look after.

Instead of saying thank you, she responds with, and I kid you not;
"You can't put my horse before yours?"

Uh, no, I can't, because he's your horse and not mine.
You should be grateful that I'm taking time out of my day, and time with my own horses, to help out our coach and you by driving out to exercise your horse everyday.

I've created this thread, open to everyone who wants comments/critique on their riding! Since we do a lot of that on here, I thought it'd be a good idea (:

I think this link should be added to the front page, it's a good idea :)

Does anyone care to discuss horse colors with me? :3

Thanks! I know I love getting input on how to improve my riding, I'm sure lots of other riders can agree. (:

@Rowdy: You know the saddle fits or you've had a profecional saddler etc.(with good rep.) check if it fits? Pads don't help if the cause is the saddle, I'm kind of anti-pad though. But I guess some horses find pads helpfull with sore backness, but still it bugs me that their back start to hurt without the pad. Which would mean the source of the problem is not fixed or found.
Sorry about bugging, but un/fitting saddles are my biggest pet peeve, knowing that they have caused Heta loads of problems... :| Like the saddle I got with Heta, I thought it fit, but it totally didn't. But if he's sore looking even when you free lunge him then I don't think it's his saddle, though saddle issues can be really persistent.
You could always get another vet to check him out. And if you want to be really sure that there's nothing wrong with his his hocks, have an x-ray. Osteopath could help too, or simply a masseuse. At least they could locate possible problem areas.

Likit has an Electrolyte block thingy, I got one for Kitty! Then you don't have to add it in the SmartPak for about the same price, haha xD And I'm SURE he'd like the likit - Kat loves his and he's a picky eater.
Did you try the SmartPak Supplement Wizard thingy/

I ended up playing with that Supplement Wizard...XD It says Heta would need 8 different supplements, 3 in minimum. Out of those I'm currently feeding her only one which is multi-vitamin, which only needs to be given once a week so it last really long time. Yeah... I don't think I could even afford to feed all that stuff to he, and she mostly doesn't need those. Feeding all 8 supplements would be almost 200$ a month and I don't even want to know how much it would be in euros...

I like the idea as well Benexo.

I could discuss about colors... I never have anyone who would undestand a word what I say. Like L kept saying one clearly flaxen chestnut is a red dun, just 'cause world fengur said he can only be red dun... I have to check if it's true...

@Hano- I saw Richard Spooner ride last summer and it looked very awkward. He looked almost hunched over. He won, though xD

@tanner- I don't know much about horse colour genetics, but it's something that I am very interested in learning and would happily supply you with never ending questions haha

@Everyone- I finally had a lesson today (it's been about 3 and a half weeks since the last!) And it was great. Fixed some things that Jesse and I have been slipping into, talking about shows and trail rides, too.

@Benexo, I think you asked me about how many shows are over here, but it's really late so I'll give you a proper answer tomorrow.

@ Amy Pond ; :D Thanks so much! 1 meter is impressive as well! She was such a sweetie that day, so glad we got it on video. Donny sounds like he has potential! Are you moving up higher soon? (: I actually have no idea how old she is! Not too young though, since she's had two owners I think. Maybe somewhere between 10 and ummm, 17? No clue D:

----- Thank you all so much for the incredibly nice compliments, you guys are the best! <3 ------

Haha that was on a more experienced jumper though XD Donny could maybe do it free jumping but would refuse with a rider lol XD Well the guy I have jumping lessons off, I will call him P for future reference, says he is quiet a nice show jumper but he justs lacks confidense for combos and dazzle boards (He's only jumped those once before). lol I probably dont help to much either, P says I need to keep the pressure on him all the way up and over the fence while he's learning. I'm too kind lol XD We probably wont move up for a little while since we're getting him comfortable with the fences and teaching him where to put his feet and the striding :) Hhaha doesn't she have brands? But fair enough lol XD

@Toppy awesome you had a lesson! It's good you got to fix habits :D I need to have another lesson on Donny lol XD I have so many bad habits on him, like duck feet, letting my leg get to far foreward (Which I think has something to do with my saddle since it doesn't happen when I ride Tank) and hunching my shoulders over.

@Tanner I only know the basics of genetics but I do find them interesting :3 I think it's a really cool topic :D

~~~
And only a really quick update on me personally since I'm sure you guys get bored with my antics lol
But I got to ride Donny for the first time after the chiro today :D He's changed so much! His walk is different, his trot is different and even his jump is different! It was really wet and raining on and off so no cantering, expect for when I sneaked one in after a jump :P, but he was amazing! His trot is super floaty now and he goes round much much easier and is heaps more willing to stay there. I barely have to touch his mouth to get him round! He's happier to leg yeild too :D I'm so glad I got the chiro out to see him. Well worth the 70 dollars
Yes, they really are ;-; I want to fix my leg so badly, but nothing seems to be working D'x
I'm glad that my leg is my really only eq problem over fences though, that makes me feel really good. Even though that is probably the hardest to fix, I am okay with that since everything else seems great in my eyes (which is a shocker since I am always really hard on myself xD).
Haha that's okay, I totally understand. I think releases sometimes can be personal opinion, I mean there are some releases that you flat out know are bad (riders hands are up to the horses ears, rider is yanking the horse in the mouth, ect.). I was just saying so since I have posted multiple photos on Judge My Ride and Rob Gage has said he actually loved my proper long crest release. It could just be that you are used to Auto's, yeah. Not all jumpers have shorter releases though, actually one person posted a photo on Judge My Ride where she was literally leaning on her horse because she was releasing up to his ears and she was in jumpers lol.
Your Eq is fantastic! I wonder what mine looks like lol... no one can ever take video/photos of me. ><
Yeah, I just have this thing about Crest releases, I don't even know why, they just bother me. xD I think that a lot of people that use them are advanced enough to learn autos, like you (sorry if this sounds rude, it isn't meant to, I think you're more than capable of an auto lol). Auto's give your horse the most freedom so I consider them the best. xD I'm opinionated lol.
Yeah some jumpers have very questionable Eq. Some of the biggest Grand Prix riders look like crap when riding but still have amazing control over their horses, it's crazy. Like Richard Spooner. Yeah he wins everything xD
Thank you so much <3 That made me feel really good xD I'm sure your Eq is amazing, and I hope to see pictures if you can get them.
Haha that's okay ;D That may be why they bother you, and is a good reason for them to bother you lol. D'aww thanks so much -blushes- Don't worry, that didn't sound rude at all, it actually made my day. I never thought I was that good of a rider xD It's just that in hunters you see crest releases everywhere and since we ride hunters/eq I am just going to stick with that for now. I may try an auto once in a while though.
That is very true, a few of the Grand Prix riders have pretty interesting Eq. I would say having amazing control would have to come before amazing eq, and that's what my trainer was teaching me since my old barn just focused on eq and looking pretty, not actually learning how to ride, control your horse, and use your body correctly. Richard Spooner, ahh he is funny. It looks like his amazing leg is giong to make him fly off his horse xD
@rain: Well thank you sooo much dear <3 Your comments made me so happy ;D
Had a super awesome epic lesson yesterday. <3
It was my first lesson for a while and our last lesson hadn't gone well at all.
But Gem was just.... awesome.
We did our normal warm up.
Walked a few laps in two point because my leg is moving forward again.
Trotted around in two point, way too much two point yesterday.
Then we had a nice, relaxed easy canter around the ring and it was great.
She was listening to my half halts and was just being amazing.
Trainer had us start on the outside brick to yellow line.
Told me to trot in, but not what I was supposed to do out.
And since Gem landed a very nice canter and was very calm, I let her canter the last jump.
So from then on we were trot in, canter out.
Then she had me count strides.
I. Hate. Counting. Strides.
I seem to start too early and end up with a seven instead of a six.
Turns out, we can also do a six pony stride in a five and not get a super long distance.
Yay for horse size strides <3
But I started to get the strides down later in the lesson.
We moved on to doing the other outside line which is a 2' to an uneven 2'6 and 2'3.
That was a four stride line which was pretty hard to get because Gem was starting to get fast and chipped it a few times.
We jumped the outside trot in, canter out then cantered around the ring to the brick outside and jumped that.
We did that a few times then I picked up the canter at the turn and cantered the 2' 2'6/2'3 line. We did that a few times and just worked on slowing her down, counting the strides and not getting too deep.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIdwlp-d ... e=youtu.be
We had a really great lesson and it was my first time cantering through lines like that.
Can't wait to ride again today <3
Rode on Friday as well and hopped on bareback.
Just did walk trot and hopped over a few poles because Gem was a bit fresh.
Then later that day we had to move all the jumps back because the owner dragged the ring.
Jumps are way too heavy >>
So after we moved all the jumps back I rode for half an hour or so.
Did the usual w/t/c then popped over a few fences, including the 2'3 oxer.
