I met Anthony Amorim on Friday.
I went with my friend, Hannah, but we didn't know we were going until around 5:00, so we didn't hear any music (the show ended around 5:30, and it took a while to get to the park where he was playing). We still got to meet him though. I was freaking out because his music has helped me in really rough times and actually gave me the sense to stop doing self destructive things. (if you want to know what they are, just dm me). I was clinging to my friend like a freaking koala and holding her hand the entire time because im a wuss lol. Frankly, im surprised she didn't punch me in the face because she normally doesn't like contact like that.

We got to talk to him on separate occasions (three times, i think. it's all a blur because i was about to have a panic attack hahah), and he was super nice about signing my self-harm scars and talking about it with me. It was overall an amzing experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

my favorite part was after i gave him a note that explained my self harm and how long i've been clean and how his song Hey September has put the sense that my family couldn't in me, he asked: "Can I rip this out? I want to keep this forever." (it was in my drawing notebook), and he gave me a hug. When I tried to pull away because it was getting a bit too long to be socially acceptable,
he pulled me back and went "no, it's a longer hug this time." and he hugged me tighter. We need more people like Anthony Amorim in this world.

has anyone else tried the spotify.me thing?? i found it really interesting

basically it tells you your most listened to song of all time, which genres you like the most, what hours you listen to music the most etc. and at the end it gives you a playlist! some of my results surprised me actually, here's mine:

top artist - the strokes (no surprise there lmao)
top track - love this by cosmo jarvis (i actually wasn't really expecting this but then again it's one of the songs i've never gotten tired of)
    most active hour - 5:00pm
time streamed since 11th july - 621 min (10.35 hours)

89% of your tracks are energetic
your average beats per minute is 130
overall, your tracks are positive (surprising lmaoo)

    top genres:
    alternative rock - 38%
    indie rock - 36%
    rock - 36%
    indie pop - 34%
    garage rock - 30%
permanent wave - 28% (what is that)

38% of your most listened to artists are in your favourite genre

you are high energy! we can't seem to find any chill music in your recent streaming history (i swear this is a lie but ok)

you stream like a traveler. based on playlists in your library, looks like you pack some music for your trips (well i do have a playlist called german trip so i can see how they got that)

this only works for spotify users obv but i found it pretty cool! what did you guys get??

edit: oh yeah and here's the playlist they gave me:

    shadowplay - the killers
    good morning, sunshine - shortstraw
    thunder - imagine dragons
    punchline - the cinema
    outright - wild party
read my mind - the killers
    curtains - shortstraw
    stacy - shag rock
    banquet - bloc party
laid back lady - tropical zombie
dance with me - ra ra riot
    roots - imagine dragon
come back to you - saint raymond
just another girl - the killers
until your head hits my pillow - ra ra riot
ain't no rest for the wicked - cage the elephant
old yellow bricks - arctic monkeys
    lottery ticket - andrew macmahon

i haven't listened to it yet but by the looks of it it's mostly based off my top genre, alternative rock, which tbh i haven't been listening to toooo much lately but about 6 of the songs on the playlist are ones i already have saved

I tried the spotify thing but apparently I don't use it enough for it to form any opinions on my listening habits xD I can't work on it now cause I'm using data (I'm away on camp till Saturday) but when I get home I'll try and use it more so it can work some stuff out haha

They're having a bloody rave on the camp right now, all I can hear is Darude Sandstorm and people shouting... They call it the "infamous RIAT disco", more like "notorious RIAT disco"... for me, anyway. I'll sit here and listen to... I dunno, Soundgarden I guess.

talk about an amazing show. this concert was most definitely in my top ten. i was constantly amazed, and i had barricade which made it a million times better. andrew made eye contact with me multiple times, and smiled at me, and i got a wave from will, the drummer. i've loved mgmt my whole life, so it was insane to finally see them, especially during sunset. everything was perfect, and for their set i felt free!! if you like mgmt, i would 100% recommend seeing them. they weren't necessarily energetic, but the crowd makes up for that.

Damn. Chester Bennington as well? I don't like Linkin Park much anymore but it's still a shock. On Chris Cornell's would-be birthday, too...

@realjoshdun - oooo, Green Day! Looking forward to that one hehe

I knew you'd post. It really stinks that it was right before I was planning to get tickets to see one of their shows. :(

How did I not see this thread before??

favorite artist, and why; I can't choose! I've been listening to The Moody Blues a ton lately, but I also love Simon & Garfunkel, Dan Fogelberg, Gordon Lightfoot, and Al Stewart.
favorite song, and why; That's just about the hardest question anyone could ask!
favorite album, and why; I don't know that either, but I guess the first one that comes to mind for this question is The Moody Blues' album To Our Children's Children's Children. It's a concept album, inspired by the moon landing (and released the same year, '69), and it's honestly magical. It's best listened to as a whole, as each of the songs contribute to the overall progression.
favorite genre; Not sure! Most artists I listen to do folk-rock to some extent though.
favorite music news source [if any]; I don't know of any.
least favorite artist, and why; I don't know.
least favorite song, and why; ^^
favorite music service; YouTube? Maybe? (If that's what you're asking?) I mean, it's free and I actually know how to use it, so.
favorite platform? (records, cds, digital, etc.); Vinyl!! I have about 500 at the moment and 3 record players (granted, 2 of those are antiques, but still...)! There's just something about them that you can't get with others ways of listening to music.
