Hey, uh, I'll finish the review next week sometime - got a lot of homework piled on me - but can I just ask your opinions on something? I'm doing a discursive essay for English, and my subject is whether rock stars make good role models. I'm coming to a sort of ambiguous conclusion, as in the reader can choose their opinions on the matter based on points from both sides of the argument presented in the text, but I just don't know who to focus on as a bad influence. For the good role model side I'll probably focus on Ed Vedder and Serj Tankian with some references to other people (Def Leppard's drummer and some other folk) but I just don't listen to enough stuff people might consider a bad influence xD I thought maybe Keith Moon (trashing hotel rooms and blowing up toilets and stuff) and someone else, anyone have any ideas? Also, are the countless interviews I've watched on YouTube a good enough source for this? I can't link them all, it's far too many! lmao

@superunknown
ahh that sounds like such an interesting essay !!
i had a cool one sorta like that, except it was who
i thought would end up in the rock n roll hall of fame,
and why. always fun to do music based essays. for
bad influence id say liam gallagher of oasis, though i
personally love him, he was commonly seen as a bad
influence as he was, err, not exactly the nicest person
in the world.
also the youtube interviews should be fine for sources,
but maybe mix it up a bit and use some written interviews.
i have a few music sites sourced on the front page that
will probably have some good stuff.
good luck on your essay !!

I got the assignment done! I didn't have enough words (had to be under 1000) to mention everything I wanted to but I think I did alright. I'll probably do some more of the review in a couple of hours, I've got to pack stuff up in my room this weekend because I'm moving in a few weeks time. My mum packed up the sitting room about a month ago because that's just what she does but I like to look at my stuff (CDs, records, dragon statues, xboxes) so I'm leaving it as late as possible. Can't remember if I mentioned it but last Friday I bought a Satanoscillatemymetallicsonatas record and the vinYL iS PURPLE AAAh
It was a pleasant surprise when I opened it c: I like coloured vinyls. I think that was the first vinyl release of the EP as well, I think it was an extra thing Soundgarden included in some Badmotorfinger CDs back in the day. It's got three covers of Black Sabbath, Devo and the Rolling Stones on it, along with some other thing I think Chris wrote and a live recording of Slaves And Bulldozers. I haven't actually listened to the side with Slaves And Bulldozers on it, just the covers, I'll have to do that... whoops

@superunknown
woah that record sounds super rad!! colored vinyl is so
cool. my favorite colored i have is probably my another (demo)
one by mac demarco that was a record store day special.
i also recently got a get behind me satan vinyl, by the
white stripes, and it was crazy because it was the first
release on black vinyl. it's pretty wild seeing as
colored vinyl is usually the rarity. gotta love jack white haha.
hope your move goes okay!! xx

+
i just discovered this new band, called car seat headrest,
and i think ill review some songs, or maybe an album of theirs soon.
id really recommend their song drunk drivers/killer whales. its such
a good song.

hello there
y'all mind if i

favorite artist, and why; oh boy. uh, if we're limiting my choices to english artists (since i listen to mostly jpop), i like the band flatsound quite a lot. dandelion hands is also pretty nice, and i LOVE joji. but there's a vocaloid (vocaloid = voicebanks people use to make songs) producer named wowaka who makes really good stuff. but coldplay is probably my favourite band alltogether, i've seen them live once and i'm gonna see them again this july-august.
favorite song, and why; rolling girl by wowaka. i don't know why i love it so much,, it's been my alltime favourite song over any song of any genre for about two years now. i never get tired of listening to it.
favorite album, and why; ghost stories by coldplay. it's really calming, and good music to draw to as well. it might be my favorite coldplay album.
favorite genre; i'm a closet weeaboo; i absolutely love jpop (vocaloid if we're being specific here).
favorite music news source [if any]; don't have one
least favorite artist, and why; i don't really like any artists who make christian music. there are some pretty uncomfortable memories i associate with christian music that i don't want to talk about, so,
least favorite song, and why; there really aren't that many songs i dislike, and i've never found a song i outright hate, so,,, anything that's christian or religious makes me uncomfortable however.
favorite music service ??
favorite platform? (records, cds, digital, etc.); digital is the most practical imo but i love vinyl (for the aesthetic)

I also technically have a limited edition red 10" Metallica one, but it's not really mine, it belongs to my mum's boyfriend. He has a lot of old Metallica records, most of them are Justice/selftitled/Load/Reload singles but he's got Garage Days Re-Revisited and a Creeping Death single and he did have he actual Load album until the discs warped. They're all really dirty but they probably weren't played for about fifteen years xD I just keep them with my stuff because I think he focuses more on digital stuff. He gave me most of his CDs as well. I just like to have a physical copy... I can't find anything I want though, I want Declaration Of Conformity on CD but it's really expensive online and has probably been out of print for years haha
My local shop also has no Tool or Sabaton albums...? alright then
