Hello guys,
I've decided recently to learn something new, and it's singing in metal style (exhale growl), does anybody have tips on how to properly do it? I tried it a couple of times today...

I forgot how you actually do it (never tried it myself) but the one thing I remember is that if it hurts, stop. Which is true for most things really but it's always worth remembering :d

I want to bring this thread back to life, a little sad that we let it die. So, since I last posted here I've picked up guitar and I've gotta say, I really love it. It's amazing even if I'm still a beginner. Learning new techniques and chords and stuff is so fun to me. If anyone thinks they've got some tip or something they could tell me about, please do feel free to PM me or quote this post :D! I've been playing for about a month now.
My sister and I also are planning to buy a keyboard together which I think will also be lots of fun as well.

favorite artist? why?: rex orange county -- his music is so real and relatable. There is diversity on the emotions and images portrayed in his music, but it is still very recognizable.
all-time favorite song? why?: Im super indecisive so I think I have had two all-time favorite songs:
Sweater Weather -- The Neighbourhood -- this song reminds me of a time back in middle school (when I first discovered my love for this song)when things werent really going great with my friendships and relationships and when I heard this song, I just felt happier.
Television / So Far So Good -- Rex Orange County -- I just love this song so much and ever since the first time I heard it, it always hyped me up from the first note
least favorite artist? why?: I dont think I have a least favorite artist but I dont like many pop artists that are problematic (ex: selena gomez)
current favorite song? why?: either uno by rex orange county (it just kind of portrays such honest thoughts that are sad but real) or thunder by roy blair (it just has such a happy feel)

i haven't posted on cs in ages but since i've participated in this chat tranqulity base hotel + casino by arctic monkeys came out and...ugh i didn't like it but i really really wanted to since arctic monkeys are in my top bands but idk. i don't think i even listened all the way through the record (i'll try to eventually) i just don't like the effects on his voice in the first few songs and idk it was pretty depressing for me to not like it but i'll give it another go

i've been listening to a lot of new music lately trying to like idk broaden my taste and i'm really into listening to full albums atm - kids see ghosts ( kanye + kid cudi project) came out last month and i've been listening to it heaps bc i love it so much, definitely in my favourite albums of all time already (and while i liked ye i like kids see ghosts a lot more) - i don't really have a standout favourite song but if i had to choose i'd say 4th dimension

as for other new albums i don't mind the now now by gorillaz but i definitely haven't listened to it as much as i listened to their previous album humanz when it came out, and i realise i never even talked about virtue by the voidz which came out months ago now but is such a good & diverse album (another favourite of all time lol) and will definitely have at least one song someone will like just bc the range of genre is so wow

oh yeah i've also been listening to in the aeroplane over the sea by neutral milk hotel - such a good album idk why i slept on it for so long; a bunch of songs by boy pablo after i accidentally clicked on a live perfomance of a few of his songs on yt and watched it all (vv good mistake), his songs imreallytiredthisdaysucks + losing you + sick feeling are my favourites; i finally listened to saint motels entire discography and yeah every song is so good theyre such a good band

favorite artist? why?: I can't decide between Simon & Garfunkel, Hall & Oates, and ELO. Their music is just so fun to listen to and really get me in the mood to get some work done.
all-time favorite song? why?: This is so hard but I would have to say at the moment Rich Girl by Hall & Oates or Hold on Tight by ELO. Simon & Garfunkel are more like I enjoy almost all of their songs a lot, but none are absolute favorites. I can't explain why I like these songs, I just do.
least favorite artist? why?: I don't know if I have a least favorite artist, but I'm not too fond of a lot of modern pop or country.
current favorite song? why?: The song Right Down the Line by Gerry Rafferty has really been growing on me lately.
favorite album?: I don't really listen to albums, more like pick and choose.

favorite artist? why?: Imagine Dragons. I really relate to the lyrics of a lot of their songs, and their latest album especially is so full of upbeat and positive songs about overcoming sadness. I have a soft spot for them because I associate their music with change and growth. Also I want to say Starset, because I love them too much not to mention them.
all-time favorite song? why?: Believer by Imagine Dragons, for the same reasons I like Imagine Dragons. I listened to it a lot when I was going through a positive change in my life and I associate it with that.
least favorite artist? why?: I don't have one. I listen to music I like and if I don't like it, I don't pay much attention to it. So I don't spend any energy hating songs or artists.
current favorite song? why?: My favourite song is still Believer, but I'm listening to Gold Rush by Death Cab for Cutie a lot right now. It's somehow relaxing and exciting at the same time. It has a certain mood to it that I can't explain, but just hearing the first two notes of it always distracts me from whatever I was doing.
favorite album?: It's a tie between Evolve (Imagine Dragons) and Vessels (Starset). They both came out in 2017, so I guess there was at least one redeeming quality of last year.
favorite music news source?: I don't really follow music news. In fact, I have never even heard of that.
favorite music platform?: iTunes, I guess. All my music is on iTunes and I've already spent so much money on it so I'm kind of trapped there.
who have you seen live?: Starset (twice), Imagine Dragons (twice), Arcade Fire (twice), and Muse. I'm going to see David Byrne in August (my dad's dragging me), Death Cab for Cutie in October and OK Go in November. I hope next year I can see Caravan Palace but I don't think they ever leave Europe...

I felt the same way!! I really love their older albums so much but the new album just didnt really give off the same energy if that makes sense? I found that I liked their music pretty recently so I guess I wasnt that disappointed but im still kind of upset I dont like it. Maybe I will give it another try??

i saw waterparks live saturday (at warped) and they were so good! my friend and i accidentally got stuck in a beartooth pit and o h god it was horrible, mosh pits in general are rough but beartooth- god.. anyways ,, i met them and they were so damn sweet, they give really good hugs.

i unfortunately didnt get to meet or see palaye royale because i had a TEI during their first m&g and their second line was too long, and it was raining hard during their set (i was also in the back) and my glasses were soaked so i had to skip out, ill see em next tour though.

honestly warped was so fun, im kinda sad i only got to watch one set, i dont really mind though, i got to meet them, get stuff signed, and go to an acoustic set.


ngl, when i first listened to the band (last year at their APMAS performance) i thought they were utter trash because awsten (singer) was drunk and not able to hit the proper notes for their song.
