Can I learn Hiragana easily, how?

Postby adachoi » Fri Jul 14, 2017 3:21 pm

Hello all, I have very much interest in Japanese language and want to learn Hiragana. How to learn it easily? After some research my friend suggests me to buy Japanese Syllabary - Hiragana from Carddia.com. Is it good for me or have you any other suggestion.

I learned hiragana on tofugu.com. It's free and teaches all of the characters and how to pronounce them. You can also practice on RealKana and Drag and Drop Hiragana, both of which are free as well. If you want to buy a physical copy of a textbook, I've heard good things about Genki, but I've never used them.

If you own a WiiU, my cpousin learned from a game (that's only 5 dollars) called Ohayou! Beginner's Japanese. I'm born Japanese, so in my opinion, the best way is to live there yourself and learn from the others. Although that one isn't too easy, It gives a nice story to tell.

Hi there!

I've been studying Japanese for three years and I've lived there for 6 months while on foreign exchange. What helped me out the most for learning Hiragana and Katakana was:

For some reason, the combination of the colors and drawings really stuck in my brain and helped me immensely during that first month of studying!

頑張って!

I learned (though I still have to practice at this point) hiragana through this youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/japanesepod101
Also what helped me is an app on my tablet that shows me any hiragana and pronounces it. Now I'm practicing writing them the right way every day.

Hey! Learning Hiragana is very easy when you turn the characters into pictures. For example, you could draw a face on the character, し and say "she has long hair". I find that the kids I've babysat learn pretty quickly this way. Otherwise, I'd say that flashcards have been extremely useful for me. I learned all Hiragana characters within a month through flashcards, but everyone's learning style is different!
