♚❤LEARN/TEACH GERMAN❤♚

Postby ArcaneRooney » Sun Oct 12, 2014 11:23 am

HALLO.

You may have seen this thread before, but if you haven't, let me tell you that we have started it up before, and after a very long hiatus we are back and better than ever! So here we go:

After discovering the international board (after all this time on CS) I had a great idea.
There's people from all over the world on this website,so why not find someone to help me learn German? I found many posts on this subject but they were all either older and unused today or they were only taking in a few students and had very strictly set "studying" times. So here's my solution.

Basically this forum is for:

  • Improving your German
  • Helping others improve their German
  • Posting helpful learning websites/tools
  • Learning this language along with other people

Current Classes:

unfortunately applications are no longer being taken for a 1-on-1 class taught by Teardroplove
Seeing as we had to start fresh with classes, this is our only available class at the moment. we are currently recruiting new teachers!

Rules
:

(I know no one likes rules but we've always got to have some)
  1. No spam (I'm expecting this topic to be filled with posts by the time its done so I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make unnecessary posts)
  2. Please be helpful (don't give advice/tips in German if they aren't correct)
  3. Be kind
  4. Be patient (we will have a lot of entries and classes to set up so please be patient with us)

To help your teachers figure out where you are on your way to speaking German, we have a system, include this in your application:
German levels (In order from Lowest to Highest):
Omega - I don't know more than 10 words or phrases (if any at all)
Delta B - I know a few basics, with little or no grammar
Delta A - I know a few basics, with okay grammar
Gamma - I've got most of it down, good vocabulary and grammar (only a few issues)
Beta - I've taken (at least) three or more years of German in school, I have a good grasp on things
Alpha - Its my first language, so I am fluent

How to Join:
Its simple, just fill out this entry form to join. You will be informed when your member status has been confirmed
(The options marked with an * are mandatory and must be filled out, the rest are optional and may be left blank)
Code: Select all
*Username:
*German Level:
*Why do you think you are at this level?:
*What is your main goal in joining this group?:
*Would you like to receive PMs of the latest news/updates from our group? (Y/N):
Favorite learning tool/website:
*Timezone (please be as specific as possible):
*First Language:
Country:
How often are you online?:
*Are you applying as a teacher or student?:
Would you like to teach/learn on a regular or irregular basis?
Would you be interested in becoming an Admin of our group?

My hopes for this is to not only make it into a group where people can learn another language, but a small community where we can grow together and help each other out in our learning C:

Info on Classes

Postby ArcaneRooney » Sun Oct 12, 2014 11:26 am

How classes work:
Really it depends on the teachers but here are a few of the options:
  • over an app
  • over PM (just for one-on-one sessions)
  • On a separate thread
  • other (once again depending on the teacher)

Classes can be as often as a daily weekly or monthly thing. When you sign up for a class make sure your schedule is free for that time. If you are going to miss it try and give your instructor a few days heads up prior to that day.

If you have lots of activities (such as school, jobs, extracurricular things, clubs, etc.) and cannot make plans for an orderly schedule there will be a few classes you can join that aren't on a fixed schedule.

Classes can be any size, whether one-on-one up to 10 people maximum per class. Though some teachers may have a class limit that is lower, or even higher than our average limit of 10 students.

Some teachers require payment, some do not. There are three types of classes:

Paid:
Some teachers may charge things such as pets or chicken cash in return for their tutoring, and though this is not a common choice it does happen

Unpaid:Some teachers are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts and joy for teaching people and want nothing in return

Mutual Exchange:Some teachers are interested and/or wanting to learn other languages so if you know another language than just English they would love to have a swap and have you teach them as they teach you German

we currently have no teachers, announcements will be made once classes start

Quizlet

Postby ArcaneRooney » Sun Oct 12, 2014 12:25 pm

Hallo, so I've made a

QUIZLET

If you don't know what Quizlet is, it's a website where you can make virtual sets of flashcards to study and review things.
I have made a class and have sets of flashcards over a lot of the basics, including colors and common verbs.
Just click the link here and go to search, you should find my class. Its called Luna A Rooney's Deutsch

The sets of flashcards I currently have available to study include:

German Sayings
German Colors
100 Common Verbs
Basics 1
Clothing
Relations
Useful Phrases
Months and days of the Week

I will try to add at least one new set per week, I will probably be uploading quite a few in the next few days as well
