No they can't. People make art for items all the time, AJHQ doesn't care. The only thing they didn't like was when people were making masterpieces and selling them for money.

Where in the rules does it say this? I've never seen anything in AJ's rules about trading for art, and this thread doesn't have any rules against it either. I should know, I wrote them.
