I'm not sure if I understood you correctly, but this is my answer for what I think you meant.
It is very hard to teach people to code, especially if your not a professional. To me, codes just come naturally. I didn't get taught them, I found them out by myself, so I guess the best way to learn is to look at different html, bbcode, css and php basic coding sites and in no time, you'll be able to do a whole layout from memory. Scary, isn't it. *shivers*

There's several free books online, tutorial sites, help forums and of course the manual at php.net for those who are interested in expanding their knowledge base more. Don't be afraid to try new things. ^^ The extra effort can very much be worth it.
