Oekaki Rules and Information
by Tess @ Mon Oct 01, 2012 12:19 am [Reply]

All images made in the oekaki board must follow our general Art Rules - however, there are some extra rules specific to the Oekaki that you should be aware of;

Oekaki-specific Rules

What you should do:

  • Keep comments polite, helpful, and relevant to the artwork. Critique is allowed if requested by the artist - but bare insults are not welcome here.
  • Make an effort to post your drawing in the correct board. For example, if you color in an Editable drawing, post it into the 'Colored-in' board. If you are new to oekaki and your artwork isn't of a very high standard yet, post in the Beginners board until you've had more practice.
  • If using an editable, follow the artist's rules! This may include leaving a signature/watermark layer on the final image, or may prevent you from selling colored-in versions as adoptables.
What you shouldn't do:
  • Don't post excessively bloody/gory/violent images, nudity, or anything else which might be inappropriate for younger viewers.
  • Do not post blank canvases in the contests board. Contests may be posted there only if you provide a lineart or background for contestants to use in their entries. If you don't need people to edit something in particular, go to the Regular Art Competitions Board to create your topic. You can still make a rule that your contestants make their entries in the Oekaki boards if you prefer it that way.
  • Don't make Oekaki drawings with just words or puzzles written on them. The oekaki is for sharing artwork, not for displaying a message or playing a forum game.
  • Don't spam the oekaki with random 10 second scribbles or advertisements and trade requests.
  • Religious themes are allowed in most boards EXCEPT in the Editable or Adoptable boards. Please keep these images for the Beginners, Intermediate, or Sketches boards instead.
  • Don't post offensive images imposing your beliefs on others. You are free to express your beliefs in a peaceful way, but not by hating on or denouncing any other person or group of people.
  • Don't create Oekaki topics just to share art you've created elsewhere. Art drawn in another program should be posted in the appropriate board (for example: non-Oekaki adopts go in User-made Adoptables).

Changing Thread Ownership
Is your topic changing owner? Are you taking over someone else's art shop or adoptables?
As part of a new rule, you may need to formally notify CS staff about these changes, so please read for more information:

If you are transferring ownership of an art topic with continuing services (e.g. adoptables and original species adoptions, group artist shops, etc) you need to write a New Ownership Contract and submit this to CS staff. Both the current and future topic owner should send copies of the same contract to CS Staff using the help system.

To write your New Ownership Contract you need to include these details:
  • Username(s) of the old and new owner(s)
  • Links to all affected topics
  • All terms, conditions, and limitations of the transfer - For example what the future owner is and is not allowed to do, whether it is temporary (set time frame) or permanent, and conditions that would allow or prevent the old owner from taking ownership back or having content removed.
Any later changes/updates to the contract will need to be submitted the same way - both the old and new owners must each send a copy of the changes they've agreed to.

Ownership of these topics will not be switched over until we have copies of the contract sent in from both the new and old owner. If you're having trouble writing your contract please send us a help ticket for support.

If there are any disputes or ownership problems with the topic in future, staff will refer to this contract so they can resolve the matter quickly.

Selecting a different version of ChibiPaint
We have 2 versions of ChibiPaint to choose from. The newer version (ChibiPaint v2.0) allows you to use extra features like rotating your canvas.
You can choose "ChibiPaint v2.0" on your Oekaki settings page here:

If you don't know how to get started, go to the Beginner Oekaki. When you create a 'New Topic' it will load ChibiPaint for you.
You need Java to view it, and once you create and send a picture it will feature at the top of your new topic.

Try these guides before asking questions:

Very detailed Oekaki guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does art get 'featured' for the front page?
Featured art is hand-picked by a staff member to make it appear on the front page. Only recent artwork can appear in the featured box. The lucky artists are chosen if we think their drawing is particularly beautiful or creative and deserving of special attention. Often some of the site's 'best' artwork doesn't get featured because we believe it will attract enough attention on its own.

Will you feature my artwork please?
We don't take requests or recommendations. There are not many places available for featured art, so many people just miss out. Don't take it personally, if you haven't been featured then your drawing is just one among tens of thousands which didn't get featured that week. It doesn't mean we think you're unworthy, it just means you're not incredibly lucky.

How does art get into the "most popular" categories?
The "most popular" boards are sorted automatically based on the number of "likes" they have. They are set up to include the top images from a range of different boards so that even Beginners and Sketches have a chance of being displayed amongst the top Intermediate artwork.

Can COPPA users post in the oekaki?
Yes, but all of their posts require post approval from a moderator before they appear in the forum.

I'm a COPPA user. What happened to my post? When will it be approved?
If you don't see your recent post appearing in the oekaki boards then it is probably waiting for a staff member to approve it. This might take a few minutes, or a few hours, depending on how many staff are available right now. Please be patient, staff have to read and approve nearly 1000 posts per day, sometimes it just takes a while for yours to be seen.

Lycana based on this drawing by LostHope
by LostHope @ Mon Jul 17, 2017 11:45 am [Reply]

Welcome to Lycana (Lie-Can-uh) Adopts.

• Do not steal/copy/claim any designs, and/or the species itself.
• Please be courteous. Do not disrespect anyone, staff or member alike.
• Do not take any Lycana off site, even if you win the adopt.
• If you no longer want your Lycana, please PM me and it will be put back up for adoption.

What are Lycana?:
Lycana are a race of wolf people. They mainly live in tribe-like pack systems, though can live alone or in small groups of no more than 4 members. They stand upright most of the time, but are able to drop to their fours when they need to move faster. They are intelligent, capable of making basic tools, such as knives and bows for hunting. Packs will form villages made up of tents and huts, they may also create plots of land for growing crops. Some have been known to keep livestock, and may also have companion animals. They live anywhere that can support them. This includes woodlands, mountainous regions, grasslands, and thick forests. Lycana can also live in arid, dry areas as well as deserts and even in the cold arctics.

What do they look like?:
Male and female Lycana can be differentiated in a few ways. Males have a small tuft on their chins, have sleeker bodies, and are bigger than females. Whereas a female Lycana has more fur along their chest and bellies than a male, and are smaller. Males can stand anywhere from six to seven, while a female averages around five to five and a half feet. Their fur comes in many colors and patterns, though seem to come mostly in grays and browns. They are rarely solid colors, and appear to come in any pattern known to the canine world. They have also been known to use dyes on their fur to apply patterns and markings. Especially in a well-known and prestigious pack. These dyes can be of any color and are made from crushed shells, plants, berries, and even burnt bones and hides.

What do they eat?:
Lycana are omnivorous with a preference to meat. They can live off of plants for some time, but require proteins from meat. This means they must either hunt for food, eat insects, or fish. Each Lycana has it's own likes and dislikes for food, and most toxic plants don't seem to have an effect on them. Some have been known to even enjoy nightshade as a tea.

Behaviors and packs:
Lycana are mostly diurnal people. This means they are most active in the day-time. A Lycana may be a loner for various reasons. They could have been kicked out of their pack, left to seek out another pack, were born from loner parents, their pack dispersed, or they are a survivor of some event that wiped out their pack, or most members. While in a pack, a Lycana fills one of many roles. There are up to four leaders in one pack. An alpha male, and alpha female followed by two betas. The betas can be a male and female couple, or two males. The others roles of pack members include hunters, harvesters, scavengers, workers, and healers.

Owner/Artist/Pack Assistant

LostHope @ Mon Jul 17, 2017 11:45 am

A single member, or a couple, that leads the pack.

One to two males to lead in absence of alpha, or a beta couple. Can be the first born of the alpha, or hand chosen.

These are the main means of food. They go out and hunt for meat. They are also fishers. A skilled hunter can be more important than anything else in a pack.

These Lycana will comb the area and bring home anything they find that could be of value to the clan. This could be herbs and other edibles, like berries and mushrooms. They also look for rocks, ores, or gems that could be used to create tools.

The common Lycana in the pack. These are tasked with various things. They are in charge of the cooking and maintaining the village. They consist of various sub-roles, like builders. They also are the ones to craft the tools. Most Lycana will be a worker at some point in their life, unless trained to be something else.

A pack is lucky if they have even one healer with them. These Lycana are mostly older and wiser, and are also sought after for wisdom and advice. A healer is often given a larger hut than most other members of the pack. They have knowledge of herbs and plants that have healing properties. They make brews and salves that aid the others as well as setting and stabilizing broken bones.

The Brute is born, not taught. These massive, muscular Lycana have a rare genetic mutation which effects their growth. Often time, they are highly aggressive to those outside their packs. A Brute can be either gender, but it's hard to tell them apart as far as looks go. Their fur is shorter as a result as well. They stand at a minimum of nine feet, and can grow up to 12 feet. Their teeth and claws are bigger and stronger, reaching up to five inches. They also have double incisors and a small set a little further back. The Brute is also strictly carnivorous, requiring more protein than usual for their increased muscle mass. They also prefer it raw. A pack with even one Brute is a force to reckon with. They are the soldiers, guards, and sentinels of their pack. They patrol their territory for the alpha, marking and constantly expanding their lands. The deep tears in the trees and rocks are a good indication that a pack has a Brute protecting them. They are also strong enough to carry a struggling ox over their shoulder as if it were nothing more than a sack of potatoes.

LostHope @ Mon Jul 17, 2017 11:46 am

Here is where all packs will be kept. You can create a pack, or join one already made. If you wish to create your own pack, you will need at least one Lycana who will become the alpha. Also note that if you wish to make a pack, you will need to manage your pack on a post in the main thread. You'll need to add the members to the thread, as well as their role. A staff member can also assist if they are listed as 'pack assistant'.

If you want to register a pack, fill out this form:
Code: Select all

These are the breeding grounds. Several times a year, every Lycana without a mate will gather here to breed, or find a life-mate. If your Lycana does not have a mate, they can gather here. The breeding grounds sound a bit complex, but really it's pretty simple! If you have a male Lycana, you can set him as open breeding. This means anyone can use him to breed a female with. Likewise, you can set a female to open breeding and any male can use her for open breeding. Note that females have a cooldown of 1 week, so beware of this.
Alternatively, you can 'release' a female into the breeding ground. When doing this, a random male will be chosen, and potentially even a 'wild' male. What this means is that any male with open breeding status could be the father of the Lycana's pups, -or- random colors and markings could be used. The pups will then have Sire: Wild in it's info instead of the link to the father's page.
Lycana can have 1-3 pups, and very rarely up to 4 pups. Wild sires award the mother all the pups. Otherwise, both owners get 1 pup, any left over will be up for adoption.

DinoBells based on this drawing by ParaKitty
by ParaKitty @ Sun Jul 23, 2017 7:59 am [Reply]

Dinobells or DBs are furry dinosaurs roughly 3-4 ft tall with spikes on its back and a bell on its tail. They thrive in forests and similar habitats. Their diet consists of small rodents and insects with a few occasional berries. A group of dinobells is called a jingle. Their life begins as eggs in a clutter of about 2-3. When hatched, their bells aren't fully formed, so they look like beads. As they get older, their bell starts forming. Bells that ring the loudest are stronger and more likely to find a mate. Bells eventually get quieter in elders who usually hang out in quieter places.

      be courteous
      no stealing lines or DBs
      don't spam
don't edit DBs, adding accessories are fine

What is a Makoatl?
A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-canine hybrid recently discovered
off the coast of the Greenland sea. They have the powerful tail
and jaws of a shark, with the body of a canine and (occasional) horns of a dragon.
They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-
adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat.
They are highly sociable creatures and cherish interaction between others.

Out with Sand-Dollars, and in with the new currency: Clams! We figured as a team that the economy spiked significantly with the sudden influx of sand dollars, so we found it fair to make a whole new currency.
For those with remaining sand dollars in their accounts, we are awarding everyone an MYO slot based on how many you currently have. No sand dollars can be traded after this announcement, though you are free to trade the MYO slots that you receive. Even if you only have a single sand dollar as of this moment, you will still receive a slot!

Here is how it will go:

Less that 150 = Standard MYO
150 - 299 = Uncommon MYO
300 - 799 = Rare MYO
800 or above = Very Rare MYO

All of these slots will be unlimited traits! So a VR MYO would get you unlimited VR traits, or anything below that. No legendary traits for these MYOS, apologies!

We apologize if this seems unfair, but there wasn't too much we could do about the very tilted SD amounts in order to come to a decision that was good for the whole community. Regardless of what we did, some people would get the raw end of the deal! And this way, it will be easier to both rework the item store and keep track of future currency amounts! If you have any concerns about this arrangement, please PM Wolfy [ Arganine ] about!

If you would like to redeem your SDs for your MYO slot, please contact me ( Squalo or makivc on DA if you prefer! ) with your name in the bank and your current number of sand dollars!

All MYOS must go through Wolfy for approval before being official. Again, please contact Arganine [ Penumbrawolfy ] on DA ] for any concerns or for MYO approvals!

Caudas • Artists Needed! based on this drawing by Calix

What is a Cauda? wrote:Caudas are highly intelligent, social creatures that are generally around the size of a large pony. They thrive in large hierarchy-based communities, but can be found in smaller groups or on their own. The main distinguishing features of caudas are their six legs, beak-like mouths, two sets of symmetrical horns (one larger set and one smaller set), frills, and thick rubbery skin. For a long time caudas were thought to be extinct due to habitat loss but were recently found in small numbers, and programs and protective laws have brought their numbers back up to healthier amounts. Caudas prefer to live in moist, warm shaded areas but can thrive in various habitats.

Extended Lore wrote:Caudas are amphibians that lay their eggs in water and prefer to eat fish, but can eat a variety of meals, including bird eggs, aquatic plants, small mammals, birds, insects, and frogs. Their back two pairs of legs are used mostly for movement while their front pair is used for balance and for grabbing objects. They are active mostly in the late afternoon into the very early morning, but may be more active during different times depending on the time of year, location, or personal preference. They communicate mostly through body language but will occasionally use croaks or high-pitched wails to express themselves, especially during mating season or when threatened. Ancient ancestors of caudas are thought to have started many dragon legends and they are sometimes referred to as the 'dragons of the marshes'.

• Caudas are a closed species and therefore you may only make one if you are an official artist or obtain a myo!
• Caudas may only be traded for other caudas or for other in-species objects (such as breeding items, myos, etc.) and may not be sold! You can gift caudas at any point in time, but there is a two week cooldown on trading.
• You may not edit your cauda or add traits unless you have an item that allows you to do so or if you are only changing the expression or adding accessories/tattoos (tattoos and accessories must be on an unofficial ref not used for breeding).
• Caudas may not be transferred to another species!

Breeding Rules wrote:• Caudas can be any gender or sexuality and may breed with any cauda of any gender! Poly relationships are also allowed, but nursery artists are allowed to limit the amount of parents in a breeding if they choose.
• You must correctly fill out a nursery form while a nursery artist has slots open for your ticket to be accepted.
• Only adult caudas can breed and cauda x hatchling relationships are not allowed. In addition, family members cannot breed. Caudas can only breed with other caudas.
• Each cauda can be bred up to three times in their lifetime.
• Users must wait a week between accepted breeding tickets to apply for another nursery slot.
• Individual caudas have a breeding cooldown of two weeks.
• Caudas don't have to be mates to be bred, but mated caudas are guaranteed to have more than one hatchling. The appropriate form must be correctly filled out in the mateship thread for a mateship to be official!

Staff Rules wrote:• Do not take advantage of your power as staff or your role will be revoked. You still must follow all regular rules!
• If your are unsure of something, please contact me about it!
• Staff will get an uncommon myo upon hire (including guest artists) and all staff except for guest artists will get a two trait limited rare myo every other month if they are doing their duties!
• Guest artists can make up to four caudas and then will be considered as a main artist/nursery artist. Three of those caudas must have common or below rarities and one can be uncommon!
• Regular artists can make any rarity cauda below rare, but rules will be put in place if too many uncommon caudas pop up. You must get permission from me to make a rare cauda and exclusive caudas are for special occasions only (such as events)!

What do they primarily eat?

What a Sleepy Beep eats mostly depends on its size and its preference. Smaller, pocket sized Beeps tend to eat nuts and berries, and bouncy balls are commonly mistaken for a fruit. Larger, dog sized Beeps can actually be fed larger fruits, human foods and sometimes all veggie pet foods. Beeps can eat meat but it is an unpopular practice amongst pet owners as the creatures adapt fast and when introduced to meat grow fangs. This often causes displeasure to owners of Beeps who enjoy to chew and play wrestle.

Do they have a defense mechanism?

Created as a species with no intentions of needing to survive, there is nothing in their genes used for defense. Their paws are soft and they have squishy toe beans, and never have claws. Despite not having a self defense mechanism though, they do have a defense against those pesky bad dreams. Beepies tend to have different colored circles on their cheeks, and quite often you will find well raised happy beeps who illuminate nightlights from their cheeks in the dark. This is only seen in happy Beeps.

How big can my Beepies get?

The variance in sizes for Beepies is quite extreme, and they can be anywhere from the size of a can of Coca-Cola at full age, up to the size of a healthy German Shepherd.

How many babies usually come in a litter of Beepies?

The answer to this is actually zero, as these sleepy creatures actually happen to be created with no reproductive system. No two Beeps are related, even though they do often tend to adopt one another into small families, also known as 'Grumbles'. Though some Beeps may take on more feminine or masculine hobbies, they actually do not have the ability to breed.

Ottogs ~ Open Looking for staff
by gecko. @ Fri Jul 21, 2017 8:57 pm [Reply]

[-Main Adopts-] [-Nursery-] [-Fanclub-] [-Store-]

What the heck is an Ottog?
A Ottog is a social mammal with short fur. Their physical appearance is quite similar to that of a canine, and has small scales around their face and tail. An Ottog's tail appears to be a cross between an otter and a gecko tail. Ottogs like to be around others of their kind, and do best in family groups. However, they can and will bond quite nicely with a human owner as well! Ottogs communicate using small gurgles and chirps when they are happy, and can emit a hissing sound when frightened or angry. Ottogs ears normally stand straight up, and curved slightly inwards towards the head.

>> Ownership Limits
- 2 free Ottog adopts per month per user
- You may own as many as you'd like (as long as you don't go over monthly limits)
- Unlimited nursery Ottogs [only if you own one or both of the parents!]
- Unlimited readoption, gifted, traded Ottogs per month [don't go crazy with trading though or I may put limits on this too]

>> Basic Rules
- Do not claim the species as your own
- Do not steal the designs or lineart
- Be polite to the staff and community members
- Use common sense
- Have FUN! : D

>> Edit Rules
- No editing the design or changing/removing colors
- You can add items
- You can add a hair tuft
- You can edit expressions
- You can add scars/injuries [keep it CS friendly though!]
- If you are wondering if something is okay to add, ask gecko

event page what are meekahs? meekah mutation guides

ITS THEM.... i love them ahhh!!! they were really fun to design! theyre best friends! this will be an impress me adoption! if you have any questions PM me!

Image SETI INFO Image
seti is an experimental doghead meekah, they were once a human but agreed to this undergo this experiment. their procedure was more advanced, taking their brain out and placing it inside the dogs head so theyre still somewhat human. after their procedure, they became genderless as it was hard to for them to think and hold onto an identity anymore. seti is extremely rare, one of 5 meekahs to undergo advanced doghead surgery!! theyre 5'11, have body hair since they were human before, and previously identified as male. seti's dog head and tail is from an all black doberman!

bastet is a previous verison of meekahs, making her rare. she has an elongated face which the scientists call muzzles! she also has paw pads on her hands and feet, hairless tail and ears, and shes 6'3. bastet is mixed with a sphynx cat!

to win these two, tell me how they spend a day together!! take lots of time on this and dont be afraid to decorate your entry!! decorating is very encouraged ^_^ you can do 1 extra art of them to go with your story if youd like!

VISCETS 2.0 : based on this drawing by Guest

Ongoing Guest Artist Comp
Ongoing Nursery Artist Comp

▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ [What are Viscets?] ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪
Viscets are a closed adoptable species that can be found here. They're an omnivorous wolf-like dinosaurian, characterized by a wolf-like body with raptor-like anatomy, long ears, and a long crest of fur.
They're a very diverse species, found in pack-like systems living on every continent.

Since these adopts are a closed species, this means that a regular user cannot simply make one of their own. Read our rules below and check our adopts to see how to obtain them; most can be obtained through form-based competitions but some are sold for currency (cash, dA points, c$, etc). So just check the artist's main post on the adopt to see how you can win one!

[What is a Viscet?]
Since I have no better way of explaining it, Viscets are basically otter-ferret-kangaroo-rabbit-raptor-things.

Anatomy wrote:
Viscets are large, agile creatures characterized by
✦Furred, raptor-like bodies
✦Wolf-like paws with opposable thumbs & sharp claws
✦Ferret-like muzzles & sharp fangs
✦Long ears
✦Double-ringed eyes, with a lighter inner ring of color
✦8ft in height and 12 in length
Some traits may vary.
✦Horns, antlers, scales, & spikes

Genders wrote:
✦Male and Female Viscets are almost identical both physically & socially, except for the obvious.
✦The only significant difference is the female's adapt ability to carry & balance with heavy objects, as they have to be in order to carry their eggs.
✦Male, Female, and Other-gendered Viscets are considered equal in terms of dominance and ranks within the pack
✦Only Viscets of opposite sexes can breed. Unisex creatures are usually infertile, and it is impossible for them or homosexual pairs to reproduce.
✦Viscets are entirely capable of gender expression and genders besides male and female are treated equally.

Distribution wrote:
✦Viscets are found on every continent but Antarctica.
✦They tend to inhabit temperate forest zones; not open plains or dense jungles, but somewhere in between.
✦They tend to avoid deserts, and remain near water sources.
✦Their lifestyle can be greatly impacted depending on their environment. While most live in forests, they are well-adapted to almost any environment.
✦They avoid urban and suburban areas unless in captivity.

Food wrote:
Viscets are Omnivorous. They feed on:
✦Fruit & berries
✦Small mammals
✦Large mammals
✦Domestic animals
What they eat is directly effected by what is available in their environment. It's not unheard of for them to steal domestic animals, and will hunt down large prey in packs.

Social wrote:
✦Live in packs, the size of which depends on food & space available
✦Ruled by Alpha pair; The Alpha of a pure bloodline is considered more dominant over his or her mate.
✦Alpha may be passed on to heir, beta, or to a winning competitor.
✦Viscets are territorial, and mark their territory by clawing a tree up high; invaders will know how big their enemies are from the claw marks. They will chase cougars/wolves/large carnivores from their territory.
✦2 Viscets will spar with tooth and claw.

Relationship with Humans wrote:
✦Due to their friendly nature, they are adored by humans and protected in many places, but some often seek to hunt them for their exotic pelts. Some cultures even revere them as spirits.
✦Domesticated Viscets are popular at petting zoos, companion animals, and even therapy pets.
✦As pack animals, they are incredibly loyal and protective of their family.
✦They cannot speak any human language, but are extremely intelligent and easily trained.
✦Strays can exist in urban/surburban areas, even making packs.
✦Being large animals, they can be ridden by children and small/lightweight people.

Breeding wrote:
✦Go to the Nursery for breeding.
✦Viscets usually mate for life, but just like people, not all relationships are perfect.
✦Viscets may be any gender/sexuality, but only fertile pairs can successfully breed.
✦Mating season occurs in the late winter; a fragile egg is laid after 2 months; the egg hatches 2 weeks later.
✦The mother will stay with the egg, even carrying it with her out of the den. The father often fetches food and guards his family. That summer is spent raising the Viscling.
✦Viscling's hind legs are underdeveloped and they must walk on all fours.
✦They are considered independent at 1 year of age, but will not breed until 2 years of age. Their first breeding season, they will learn how to raise young, but will not do so until the following breeding season.
✦Nursery times are drastically shortened.

Legendary traits are traits that can only be won at certain holidays & events.
Smaller holidays/events release less Legendary designs than popular events.
More widely-celebrated holidays, such as Christmas, will have multiple releases a year.

Mint Chip @ Tue Aug 04, 2015 3:12 am

Split into sections for conveniency.
A lot of it is just straightforward, but stated anyways to be thorough.

    [General Respect]
✦Respect one another at all times. Staff are just as liable. No discrimination of any sort in any way is tolerated.
✦Do not harass/beg other users for gifts, breedings, etc. You may ask, but a no is a no.
✦Do not poke at, bug, or otherwise harass other users within the community.
    [Adoption & Ownership]
✦You may technically own as many viscets as you'd like (as of 02.01.2017). Limitations apply.
(FAQ on Feb update) for more in depth answers to questions
✦Every user is permitted to winning or claiming a limited number of viscets per calendar month rather than a strict number limit.
✦Month cycles begin on the first day of each month, and ends on the last day of each month.
✦Adopts count towards the limit for the month they were created in, regardless of when they're judged.
      [Limitations on Adopts & Claims:] A singluar user may;
✦Win one regular adoptable (main thread, RU, gifted or grown abandoned batch) per month
✦Win one GA (guest artist) adoptable per month
✦Win up to two dA/Currency adopts per month.
✦Claim one new (bred for or adopted egg) batch per month.
✦There is no limit on winning user hosted adopts (readopts, or ufa batches) or pps abandoned batches per month.
✦During events, a user can win up to one event rare or legendary. (this will not count to your regular monthly adopt limit)
✦A user can only win one legendary in a year. Jan - Dec of the same year.
✦Co-owning will count towards both users monthly limits but will be put under both users IDs in the archive.
✦You still may only have up to 6 customs max. Posting a custom does not count against any limits except your overall custom limit.
(custom slot was increased by +1 on 7.15.17)

✦The staff recommends not trying out for more than 3 main thread adopt viscets in one month, but you can try out for as many as you'd like - but remember you cannot win more than one. If you win your one viscet a month and you're still part of other contests, we encourage you to edit your other forms at the top to say you've already won you monthly one so you are still eligible for HMs.

✦If caught using DA-CS accounts to cheat more Viscets, all will be revoked and resold immediately. I only have to know of your DA account if you plan on adopting on both sites; if you only adopt on CS, it's fine.
✦You must claim a batch within 30 days of being posted. If not claimed within 30 days (with ownership, name & gender) then the viscet will be put ufa by the staff.
✦The 30 day rule also applies to viscets and batches that are gifted to a user.
✦You must claim an RU within 30 days of contest's end. If you do not, the RU will be voided.
✦Also, if you breed your viscet with another user's viscet, understand that if you do not keep the batch, that you cannot control, dictate or determine what that individual does with that viscet. You cannot require or restrict any viscet you do not explicitly own or co-own in anyway.
which means no stipulations or restrictions on character development, relationships, mates, or breedings.
    [Adopting & Competitions]
✦The only way to obtain a viscet is to win it in a competition or to purchase it (via currency adopts or MYO tickets)
✦Respect Artists in adoption; do not post forms once an adoption is closed, blackmail, pester, etc
✦Artists reserve the right to hold any type of contest (raffles, FCFS, limited, impress mes, etc)
✦Do not use skeleton forms unless with permission and citation
✦Each competition varies, so be sure to read all the rules.
✦Show good sportsmanship, win or lose you should be kind and respectful of others.
✦All competitions may be subject to a Snipe Guard. This is to be used at the individual artists discretion, if they feel a snipe form has been submitted or edited they can and likely will extend the competitions a minimum of an extra 24 hours and in some cases longer.
✦Since the Snipe Guard is be used at the artists discretion not all competitions will be subject to this, so know you are not permitted to pm or harass an artist stating that you think there's been a snipe form.
✦Impress mes and event adopts specifically will likely be the competitions more commonly utilizing the Snipe Guard, but keep in mind any competition can.
✦Viscets may be treated freely as an OC in concerns to personality, sexuality, etc
✦Viscets are typically monogamous, but may be polyamorous
      ✦Viscets may be fursonas
✦Do not change your Viscet's anatomy
✦Do not add accessories that are extreme or mimic anatomy (e.g. robotic body parts or limbs, "functional" wings, etc). If confused, just ask.
✦While you can add scars, injuries, and tattoos to your viscets - you cannot change any aspects about their actual design. Redesigning is not allowed unless it is a custom and has been okay'd by or first instructed by Mint Chip.
✦No public nsfw, controversially offensive, or otherwise non-childfriendly material concerning Viscets
✦Feel free to create fantasy, anthropomorphic, etc. AUs with your Viscets; however, respect the wishes of another in public roleplays (so you can technically have a magical Viscet, but don't try to join a strictly Realistic roleplay with it).
✦Also while your viscet can identify as any gender, keep in mind that the biological gender you give it determines what it is permitted to breed as and with. To add, a viscets biological gender cannot be changed after 30 days of ownership (unless gifted to a new owner - see the "exchanges" section below for more details).
    [Creation & Customs]
Only Viscet staff are allowed to create designs or customs.
✦Guest artists have 1 month to create 5 designs to be adopted, but no customs or batches.
✦You may not change, or design your adopts, or batches for any reason at all. Customs may be allowed small changes if first okay'd by Mint Chip.
✦You may not create designs or batches without a MYO ticket (go here for info)
✦For custom creation you can either ask an official artist to make it or you can make it yourself. But it must be done on the oekaki.
No more cover customs except for very special cases (such as event rares, etc).
On occasion you can also have a friend make your custom for you but it still has to follow all the rules regardless of who makes it.
✦If you choose to make your own custom then the MYO traits must be run by Mint Chip for approval before the custom is made or posted.
✦The custom also needs to be approved by Mint Chip just to ensure it follows all the rules.
✦Please ask before creating public threads. Personal threads (OC lists, 1v1 rps) are fine.
✦You are in charge of regulating said threads and making sure users are qualified to take part.
Stream hosts will be held responsible for not taking action on any bullying/etc that occurs in their stream. If you are hosting a stream and notice harassment happening in your stream's chat, kick the antagonists from the stream & please report to a staff member.
✦Your thread may have its own rules that you may enforce so long as they do not defy any rules listed here.
✦Users may be banned from specific threads in particular rather than the whole community (partial-bans)
    [Honorable Mentions & Stubs]
✦What are Stubs? Stubs are our personal viscet currency.
✦They are obtained in several ways but the most common way is by participating in contests and winning honorable mentions.
✦Stubs can be given out in 3 increments. This is up to the artist based on how well your form is compared to the other forms. You can receive x1- x2 Stubs per honorable mention. The last increment is x3 Stubs which is only ever given out for RU trade-ins. (as of 6.1.17)
✦Stubs used to be able to be earned via Referrals, but the Referral system is no longer needed and is now closed down. (as of 6.1.17)
✦Stubs are also now trade-able (as of 6.1.17). You can trade them for c$, pets and on occasion viscets (look for a new currency adopt marked by the blue ufa symbol).
✦Stubs Adopts (a new type of currency adopt, which will be in a blue/cyan 'ufa' sign) can only be bid for and purchased with Stubs earned by HMs and participating in Official Community events that are hosted by the staff.
✦Artists will keep only 1/4 (if winning bid is not divisible by 4, round decimal down or up to the nearest whole number) of the earned Stubs from a Stubs Adopt auctions.
✦The value of Stubs varies but currently it's roughly 18 c$ in equivalence.
✦Stubs can be traded for MYO tickets as well, see the Stub Shop to see how much they are.
✦To turn in your stubs / have them added to your bank please contact our Stub Shop archivist Razors.
✦Viscets are not trading cards nor currency. They may not be traded or sold.
✦You may only sell Viscets that you yourself bought for currency (DA pts, C$, $, etc), and only for equal or less than you bought it for. Those you won through other methods (form-writing, art, raffle, etc) may not be sold for currency, including nursery batches.
✦If you wish to disown a Viscet contact Mint Chip or James. as well as the creator of the Viscet. You may host the readoption yourself or let staff handle it. If you choose to readopt out the viscet yourself, please do so in a timely manner (no more than 40 days after the set end date please).
✦Viscets may be gifted with the permission of the receiver, an Ownership Archivist, and the notification of the original artist.
✦If the original artist is unavailable or cannot edit the original post, Mint Chip will comment with a "stamp of exchange" with details concerning the new owner.
✦The new owner is permitted to change the gender (biological & identification) of their new viscet so long as the viscet has not been previously bred. In the case that it has been bred, then the biological gender cannot be changed.
✦Tickets & potions may be traded, sold, and gifted freely.
    [Exchange Cool-Downs]
✦There is a 30-Day cooldown between opposite Viscet transfers concerning 2 users; if you recently sent a gift to a user, you cannot receive a gift from same user for 30 days, & vice versa. This is to prevent people trading Viscets by claiming they're 'gifts'. Gifting multiple Viscets at once may surpass this, if they are gifted all in one transaction.
✦A Viscet cannot be gifted away if it has been obtained within the past 30 days (adoption, gifting) unless stated in the adoption form (ex: "If I win I'd like to gift this Viscet to ___")
✦A Viscet cannot be gifted away if has been bred within the past 30 days.
✦Disowning a Viscet for readoption does not count as a transfer.
✦Unless quitting, or other special circumstances, a singular user cannot re-adopt out more than 3 viscets in one month. (including putting bred for batches ufa)

[Staff Rules]

✦Respect & etc applies to staff as much as anyone else
✦Use the color references for their respective colors
✦Outline beneath the lines must be in white only.
✦Ask before creating any sort of 'special' design, such as holiday, event, or character-themed. (This is mainly to prevent there from accidentally being 2 designs closely based off the same thing).
    ✦Put UFA up on new designs; change the UFA to green for designs sold on DA; change the UFA to yellow for designs sold for c$;
✦All DA-Sold designs must be submitted to Viscet Forest
✦Viscets may be sold for any amount of C$, tokens/pets, DA points, etc
✦Currency adopts sold for C$ UFA should be colored yellow, currency adopts for DA sales should be colored green/lime and currency adopts for Stubs should be colored bright blue/cyan.
✦Designs on DA can only be sold for 2000+ points if made on original lines or with large line edits on the default lines (this includes custom items)
Keep track for how much of what they are sold for
✦Viscets may not be traded for OCs, art, etc.
✦Viscets may be adopted through the use of any given form; must require the name and gender
✦No restricting a Viscet OC wise; meaning sexuality, gender, disabilities, etc
    ✦Put the Viscet's # in the title
✦If sold on another site, link to the off-CS source; also link back to the on-CS source wherever it is sold
✦You may claim one gift or disowned viscet once every 30 days. This staff perk applies to all forms of staff.
✦You may own an unlimited number of Viscets but only 7 customs total.

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ᴋᴀʟᴏɴs? wrote:Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.

Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

Kalons are generally long-furred, fossa-like omnivorous creatures whose diet tends to consist of fruit, nuts, fish, and insects.
These eupleridians can vary to any size of an adult feline. (9-50 inches high)
Kalons are viviparous organisms which carry red blood and are incapable of breathing underwater, with the exception of legendary Kalons.
Their tail shine is made of a flexible, skin-like iridescent material that can be compared with a hummingbird or snake's natural iridescence.
Kalons have very dexterous paws for grasping. They use them to grip food, climb trees, and groom other Kalons.
They communicate with a series of chatters and growls.
These creatures are active both day and night, although they prefer to spend their days napping in the sunlight and hunting prey at night.
Hundreds of Kalons can be found with harmless mutations such as coloration of the sclera, as they are highly sensitive to human-generated airwaves. Kalons born in locations with more radiation than normal can even be found with extra eyes, growths resembling horns, and glowing body parts.
It is said that there are elusive Kalons known as legends that walk the earth, capable of possessing wings and even transparency.
Kalons are as intelligent as dolphins, and create close bonds with fellow species members.

Standard: Hair edits that stay above jawline, custom tail shine, teeth edits.

Common: Hair edits that go beyond the jawline when wet, backmanes, custom tails, longer fur.

Uncommon: Short fur/no fur, custom ears, custom pupil, custom tongue.

Rare: Extra/missing eyes, one halo, up to six limbs, up to two missing limbs, any part glowing, two tails, munchkinism, horns on the head, extra ears (maximum of two sets), approved natural mutations, colorful blood.

Legendary: Wings, magical abilities, transparency, multiple heads, multiple halos, ability of flight/levitation, elemental aspects, multiple tails, scales, shine anywhere besides tail, horns on the body, more than six limbs, gene splicing (with approval).

(These can no longer be used on Kalons and cannot pass in breeding.)

Eyes on the Body, No Tail, No Shine, Body Parts made of Slime, Gems

Kalons are a closed species; it is not permitted for a non-staff user to create their own Kalon.
Selling or purchasing Kalons for any type of payment, be it art, currency, or anything besides another Kalon, is prohibited.
A Kalon may be your fursona if you have written proof of permission from the original artist. Permission from the owner of the other parent/s must also be obtained if using anything other than a first-gen Kalon.
You may not edit your Kalon's lines (including hair, tail, tail shine, or any colors) unless adding accessories or changing expression.
Transfers out of the species must be first discussed with the original artist of the design, and then secondly with the species Owners and run on a case-by-case basis. If these steps are refused to be taken, and the transfer goes forth anyway, it will result in a ban on the user.
You may adopt up to fifty Kalons.
Trading of Kalon for Kalon or gifting Kalons is allowed when following these guidelines: A user must own a Kalon 2 weeks before they are allowed to trade it, and may only make a trade once every 30 days. This cooldown includes the trading of MYO/custom slots. You must fill out the proper form found on the Kalon Archive Update Thread for the trade or gift to be valid.
You may add as many accessories as you wish, or change the expression on your Kalon. (If they can take it on and off, it's automatically accepted. Message me for approval on scars.)
    You may roleplay Kalons.
Please message me if you have any complaints or concerns instead of posting them here.

→ Kalons can be any romantic or sexual orientation, and have as many relationships as they'd like.
→ Kalons can breed with one or two other Kalons, regardless of gender, so long as the other owner(s) condone the breeding.
→ Kalons may breed a maximum of three times during their lifespan. The mate does not have to be the same in every breeding.
→ Incestuous relationships and relationships involving kits with adults are not allowed.

→ Users may not PM artists about obtaining breeding slots. Breeding slots will remain public so everyone has a fair chance at obtaining the slot. Proof of user and/or artist sidestepping this rule will result in a strike.
→ Users must wait three weeks after breeding any of their Kalons before they can request another batch. This cooldown starts when the ticket was accepted by the artist.
→ Users must wait a week after obtaining a new Kalon before they can breed it.

→ Users may revamp customs, so long as they have the current species Owners express permission as well as posted proof of written approval of the revamp from a species Owner. However, revamps cannot occur if the Kalon has had kits.
→ Guest artists receive one unlimited uncommon custom slot after the staff vote, whether they are hired or not.

→ Staff will receive one custom slot each month based on activity. This slot is a One Rare Trait and Under custom that they can use, trade, or sell if desired.
→ Defined activity for Artists is 2 Adopts/Nursery Batches/HM Customs per month. Activity for Moderators is defined by species owners on a case-by-case basis.
→ There is a document that labels activity each month at the end of the month, please contact Karmel or Wicced!Witch for access to this document. If labelled as inactive, you can contact either owner to plead your case for activity.
→ If you choose to not use/trade/sell the slot, you can combine it with the next month’s slot to get an Unlimited Rare and Unlimited Under custom. However, you cannot get a Legendary from this by combining more.
→ If you do not want a custom, you can opt for one or more Edit Items. This excludes Autopass and Breeding Mutation (unless adding up two months activity similar to the customs system). Contact Karmel for this option.

Aaron wrote:Occasionally, if an artist feels that an entry for a Kalon that didn't win is deserving of recognition, they will award an honorable mention. If a user accumulates a specific number of honorable mentions, then they are eligible to trade them in for a custom Kalon. They are earned through one's effort put into adoption competitions.

5 hms - a custom with one standard edit
10 hms - a custom with one common edit
15 hms - a custom with one uncommon edit
20 hms - a custom with one rare edit and a choice of either one standard or one common edit
25 hms - a custom with one rare edit and choice of any two rarity edits under rare
To receive your custom, you may ask any artist on staff who is available to make your custom, with links to your HMs. You may then provide a color palette and theme. Because the Kalon is a semi-custom, you are allowed to request that the artist edit aspects of the design that you are not happy with, but you may not edit it yourself.
You may not make your own HM custom.

You'll get three strikes before a ban. Bans mean that users cannot breed their Kalons, interact with any of the Kalon threads, participate in Kalon events or the community chat, adopt or try out for new Kalons, create customs/MYOs or have HM customs created, or grow/trade their Kalons.

Kalon Adopts reserves the right to issue a strike or ban to any user via majority Kalon staff vote in accordance with the assessed severity of the situation.

Kalons of banned users may be readopted based on the severity of the case.

gummikits based on this drawing by cobras

what are gummikits? wrote:
gummikits are furry little creatures half made out of what's believed to be gummy.
they live near forests or ponds and are about the size of kittens.
gummikits usually like eating fruits and berries, and the occasional fish or small mammal.
they live and hunt in packs, each gummikit in a pack has one individual job, whether it be hunting, gathering, etc.

gummikits were created by accident, but quickly gained popularity due to their strange appearance.
more and more gummikits were made and sold as pets. soon the popularity died down, and gummikits
found their way into the wild where they had to learn to adapt to their surroundings.

the only way you can obtain a gummikit now is to capture them in the wild. many people have
tried their luck, but very few people have actually managed to capture them. are you willing to give it a try?

- all CS rules apply
- the limit of any gummikits anyone can own is 20
- gummikits are a closed species, anyone other than staff cannot make gummikits
- don't complain if you don't win a gummikit
- do not create your own gummikit and claim it is yours
- do not claim ownership to someone else's gummikit
- please do not whine/beg for gummikits
- please do not bully other members of the community
- you may trade gummikits for gummikits, but after one week of ownership. if you do plan on trading, please PM me (cobras)!
- do not claim that your gummikit has any powers unless they are listed by an artist
- you may not alter your gummikit's design
- you may not add any other edits other than accessories

gummikit rarities:
standard: fish tail, solid color gummy

common: bobtail, bi-colored gummy, hair edits

custom tail, small fur edits, custom horns, colored sclera, dino tail, ear edits

tri-colored gummy, more than 1 tail, custom horns, any glowing body parts, major fur edits, partially gummy body

very rare: gummy with more than 3 colors, mostly gummy body, larger/smaller than normal size

legendary: any known powers, wings, any other mutations

Rapaz Adopts based on this drawing by bad ideas dave
by Larkspur1678 @ Sat Jul 22, 2017 6:50 pm [Reply]

I have to go to work at 4 am so this will be finished later.

-fancy title image goes here-

Rapaz(ræ•pæz) are small quadruped creatures that appear to be a mix of birds, canines, and something akin to dragons. Adults stand at roughly 2 feet tall at their shoulders, and are about 4 feet long from nose to tail tip. Their large, hollow horns range from 10 to 18 inches, with males usually having larger horns. Their shiny mane is actually comprised of many fine iridescent feathers, and works similar to this hummingbird. Infact most of their fur has fine feathers scattered throughout, and their 'ears' are merely larger feathers that they use to help convey emotion. These creatures are very social and seem to have kept most of the social habits of their avian ancestors. They often have a small group that they nest with and a large communal group that hunts, socializes, and guards the area together. They have no great threats to their population and thus are thriving in their current habitat, which is a slightly mild rain forest.
